Typical Applications
AD7394BCPZ is suitable for 6 applications: Programmable Voltage Source, Digital Gain and Offset Adjustment, Industrial Process Control, Portable Instrumentation, Audio Volume Control, Motor Control Setpoint.
Programmable Voltage Source
The AD7394BCPZ provides a precise, digitally controlled voltage output for calibration and test equipment. Its 12-bit resolution and low settling time enable accurate voltage stepping, while the dual channels allow simultaneous generation of two independent voltages. The serial interface simplifies integration with microcontrollers, and the wide supply range supports various system voltages.
Recommended
Digital Gain and Offset Adjustment
In signal conditioning circuits, the AD7394BCPZ can be used to trim gain and offset of amplifiers. By adjusting the DAC output, the operating point of the amplifier can be set precisely, compensating for component tolerances. The dual channels allow independent adjustment of gain and offset, and the low power consumption is beneficial in multi-channel systems.
Recommended
Industrial Process Control
The AD7394BCPZ is suitable for industrial control loops where analog setpoints are required. Its 12-bit resolution provides fine control, and the serial interface allows easy isolation using digital isolators. The industrial temperature range ensures reliable operation in factory environments, and the small package saves PCB space in control modules.
Recommended
Portable Instrumentation
Battery-powered instruments benefit from the AD7394BCPZ's low power consumption and small footprint. It can generate calibration voltages, set thresholds, or provide analog outputs for displays. The wide supply range allows direct operation from a 3.3V or 5V battery, and the power-on reset ensures safe startup.
Recommended
Audio Volume Control
In audio systems, the AD7394BCPZ can be used for digital volume control. Its low glitch energy and monotonic behavior ensure smooth volume changes without audible clicks. The dual channels allow independent left and right volume control, and the serial interface is easily controlled by an audio processor.
Recommended
Motor Control Setpoint
The AD7394BCPZ can provide analog setpoints for motor speed or position control. Its fast settling time allows quick updates, and the dual channels can control two motors independently. The industrial temperature range and robust design make it suitable for motor control in factory automation.

Key Differentiators
- Dual-channel output in a compact LFCSP package (vs AD7394BRZ)
- Low power consumption of 1.5 mA (vs AD7394ARZ)
- Wide supply voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V (vs AD7394BRZ)
Design Notes
Decouple the VDD pin with a 0.1 Β΅F ceramic capacitor placed as close as possible to the pin. Additionally, a 10 Β΅F tantalum capacitor may be used for bulk decoupling. The reference input should also be decoupled with a 0.1 Β΅F capacitor to ground to reduce noise.
Use a solid ground plane under the device to minimize noise and ensure accurate performance. Keep digital signals away from the analog output and reference traces. The exposed pad on the LFCSP package should be soldered to the ground plane for thermal and electrical benefits.
Ensure that the reference voltage does not exceed VDD. The output buffer can drive capacitive loads up to 100 pF; for larger loads, add an external buffer. Also, avoid floating the SYNC pin; tie it to VDD or GND as appropriate.
Compliance Information
RoHS compliant and lead-free per datasheet. Other compliance data not specified.
