The 150 Mbps data rate supports high-speed bus protocols, while the 3/1 channel configuration allows bidirectional data flow for bus transceivers. The wide supply voltage range (1.7V to 5.5V) enables interfacing with various logic levels. This isolator protects sensitive controllers from ground loops and voltage transients, improving system reliability.
Recommended
SPI/Data Converter Isolation
The ADUM141D1BRWZ-RL7 is ideal for isolating SPI interfaces between microcontrollers and data converters (ADCs/DACs). Its 150 Mbps data rate easily handles SPI clock speeds up to 50 MHz, and the 3/1 channel configuration provides three forward channels for MOSI, SCLK, and CS, plus one reverse channel for MISO. The low propagation delay ensures minimal timing skew. The 3750 Vrms isolation protects sensitive converters from digital noise and ground potential differences. This application is common in industrial data acquisition systems and medical monitoring equipment.
Recommended
Medical Equipment Isolation
In medical devices, patient safety requires galvanic isolation between the patient-connected circuitry and the mains-powered system. The ADUM141D1BRWZ-RL7 provides 3750 Vrms isolation, meeting stringent safety standards. Its high CMTI (75 kV/µs) ensures reliable operation in the presence of defibrillator discharges and other transients. The wide temperature range (-40°C to +125°C) suits medical environments. The 3/1 channel configuration is useful for isolated communication in patient monitors, infusion pumps, and diagnostic equipment.
Recommended
General-Purpose Multichannel Isolation
The ADUM141D1BRWZ-RL7 serves as a general-purpose quad-channel isolator for various digital signals, such as GPIO, PWM, and communication lines. Its 150 Mbps data rate and 3/1 channel configuration make it versatile for many applications. The fail-safe outputs ensure predictable behavior when input power is lost, which is critical for safety systems. The wide supply range allows level shifting between different voltage domains. This isolator is commonly used in motor drives, power inverters, and renewable energy systems.
Recommended
Automotive Electronics Isolation
The ADUM141D1BRWZ-RL7 is suitable for automotive applications requiring isolation, such as battery management systems (BMS), on-board chargers, and motor controllers. Its wide temperature range (-40°C to +125°C) meets automotive requirements. The 3750 Vrms isolation protects low-voltage control circuits from high-voltage power stages. The high CMTI ensures reliable operation in the presence of switching transients. The 3/1 channel configuration supports bidirectional communication in BMS cell monitoring.
Recommended
Communication Interface Isolation
The ADUM141D1BRWZ-RL7 is used to isolate communication interfaces like UART, I2C, and SPI in networking equipment. Its 150 Mbps data rate supports high-speed serial links, and the 3/1 channel configuration allows full-duplex communication. The 3750 Vrms isolation prevents ground loops and reduces electromagnetic interference. The device's low power consumption and small footprint make it ideal for space-constrained designs. It is commonly found in routers, switches, and industrial Ethernet equipment.

- Higher isolation voltage than Si8641 (vs Si8641BB-B-IS1)
Design Notes
For optimal performance, place 0.1 µF decoupling capacitors close to VDD1 and VDD2 pins (pin 1 and pin 16). Use a ground plane on both sides of the isolation barrier, but ensure the isolation gap is maintained to preserve the rated isolation voltage. Keep the PCB trace length between the isolator and the connector as short as possible to minimize EMI.
Maintain a minimum creepage distance of 8 mm between the input and output sides of the isolator on the PCB to meet safety standards for 3750 Vrms isolation. Avoid routing high-speed signals parallel to the isolation barrier to reduce crosstalk. Use separate ground planes for side 1 and side 2, connected only at the system star point.
Do not exceed the absolute maximum supply voltage of 6V on VDD1 or VDD2. Ensure that the input signals do not exceed the supply voltage by more than 0.3V. When using the fail-safe feature, note that the outputs will go to a predefined state when input power is lost; design your system to handle this state appropriately.
Compliance Information
