MAX6385XS43D4-T 概要
A microprocessor supervisory circuit is a type of power management IC (also called a voltage supervisor or reset IC) that protects digital logic by ensuring the system only starts executing code when the supply voltage is within a valid operating range. These devices belong to the hierarchy: reset supervisor -> power supply supervisor -> power management IC -> semiconductor. They are essential companions to microcontrollers, DSPs, ASICs, and FPGAs whose brown-out behavior is undefined and can cause latch-up, memory corruption, or runaway code execution.
Key features of the MAX6385XS43D4-T include a factory-set 4.38 V threshold with ±2.5% accuracy over the -40 °C to +125 °C automotive temperature range, a 4-pin SC-70 package occupying roughly 2.0 × 2.1 mm of board area, and a push-pull (totem-pole) output that does not require an external pull-up resistor. The reset signal is active-low, matching the standard convention for µP reset inputs. The MAX6381–MAX6390 family shares a common architecture but offers different threshold voltages and package options, allowing designers to pin-select the appropriate threshold without firmware changes.
Architecturally, the MAX6385 uses an on-chip bandgap reference and a precision comparator to compare VCC against the factory-trimmed threshold. A built-in delay generator controls the reset assertion time after VCC crosses the threshold (here, the "D4" code indicates the timeout duration family). The push-pull output stage can both sink and source current, enabling direct drive of the µP reset pin without external biasing components.
Typical applications include microcontroller supply monitoring in IoT nodes, automotive body and chassis ECUs, industrial PLCs, point-of-sale terminals, and any battery-backed system that must recover deterministically from a brown-out event. Designers also use these supervisors to add safety-grade monitoring to ASICs and FPGAs whose internal power-on-reset is insufficient for their downstream circuitry. When selecting a supervisor, ensure the threshold sits comfortably above the µP's minimum operating voltage and below the regulated VCC nominal to provide adequate noise margin. For multi-rail designs, use one MAX6385 per monitored rail, or upgrade to the dual-rail members of the MAX6381–MAX6390 family.

主な用途
MAX6385XS43D4-T の用途: 6 件s: Microcontroller Brown-Out Protection, Automotive ECU Supply Monitor, IoT Sensor Node Power Supervisor, Industrial PLC and HMI Power Monitor, Point-of-Sale Terminal Reset Supervisor, Battery-Backed System Brown-Out Recovery.
Microcontroller Brown-Out Protection
The MAX6385XS43D4-T is the canonical companion to any 5 V microcontroller whose internal POR is insufficient for deterministic reset behavior. With a 4.38 V threshold and ±2.5% accuracy, the device asserts a clean active-low reset whenever VCC droops below safe operating voltage — preventing the µP from executing code with degraded logic levels that can cause memory corruption or latch-up. The 3 µA quiescent current adds negligible load to the always-on supply rail, and the SC-70-4 footprint fits beside any QFP or QFN MCU without crowding the PCB.
おすすめ
Automotive ECU Supply Monitor
Automotive body, chassis, and instrument-cluster ECUs operate across -40 °C to +125 °C with load-dump and cold-crank transients that can drag VCC below safe levels. The MAX6385XS43D4-T is rated for this full automotive temperature grade and uses a factory-trimmed bandgap reference for ±2.5% threshold accuracy over temperature. Placed between the 5 V regulator and the ECU microcontroller, the supervisor ensures the system only boots and runs while VCC is in the valid window — a critical safety requirement under ISO 26262 and OEM EMC profiles.
おすすめ
IoT Sensor Node Power Supervisor
Battery-powered IoT sensor nodes spend most of their life in deep sleep and wake only periodically. The MAX6385XS43D4-T's 3 µA quiescent current adds negligible drain, yet its push-pull active-low output provides a deterministic wake-up signal to the host MCU when the battery recovers from a brown-out. The SC-70-4 package's 2.0 × 2.1 mm footprint is small enough for coin-cell sensor designs, and the 1.8 V minimum VCC lets the supervisor operate down to the deepest lithium-battery cut-off voltage used in wireless sensor networks.
おすすめ
Industrial PLC and HMI Power Monitor
Industrial PLCs, HMIs, and motor controllers must survive 24 V bus transients that step down to 5 V rails with significant ripple and droop during inrush events. The MAX6385XS43D4-T's 4.38 V threshold sits above the PLC's minimum operating VCC with comfortable noise margin, while its push-pull output drives long PCB traces back to the central MCU without requiring a buffer. The automotive temperature grade extends derating margin in factory-floor enclosures where ambient temperatures can exceed 85 °C.
おすすめ
Point-of-Sale Terminal Reset Supervisor
POS terminals, kiosk controllers, and payment-processing boards demand deterministic boot behavior to satisfy PCI-PTS and EMV requirements. The MAX6385XS43D4-T holds the secure processor's reset line low during power-up until VCC is stable, and again during any brown-out event caused by a failing AC adapter or discharged backup battery. The factory-set 4.38 V threshold ensures the secure processor always starts in a known-good state, and the small SC-70-4 footprint fits the dense PCBs typical of payment hardware.
おすすめ
Battery-Backed System Brown-Out Recovery
Battery-backed systems — alarm panels, medical monitors, and emergency lighting controllers — must recover cleanly when primary power returns after a deep discharge that briefly pulled VCC below the µP's minimum operating voltage. The MAX6385XS43D4-T's D4-family timeout holds reset asserted for a fixed period after VCC crosses the 4.38 V threshold on the rising edge, giving the µP's PLL and RAM time to stabilize before code execution begins. The 3 µA quiescent current is negligible against the battery's own self-discharge.

設計ノート
Place a 0.1 µF ceramic decoupling capacitor as close as possible to the VCC pin (Pin 3). The MAX6385XS43D4-T draws only 3 µA of quiescent current, but the reset comparator can briefly source/sink larger currents at the moment VCC crosses the threshold. A local decoupling cap prevents VCC rail noise from causing false reset assertions. For noisy industrial environments, add a 10 Ω series ferrite bead between the upstream regulator and VCC.
Do not connect the NC pin (Pin 4) to anything except a floating pad on the PCB. Routing traces to NC or tying it to VCC can disturb the internal factory-trimmed reference and shift the reset threshold. Similarly, do not place the device too close to switching converters or inductors — the high dv/dt can couple into Pin 4 and inject reset-line noise.
Route the RESET output (Pin 2) as a short, guarded trace directly to the µP reset pin. Avoid running the reset trace parallel to switching-node traces for more than a few millimetres. Place a 10 kΩ pull-up only if you intend to drive a high-impedance input; the push-pull totem-pole output does not require a pull-up. For boards with multiple reset consumers, add a buffer gate to fan out the signal without loading the supervisor.
