LPC1812JBD144E Обзор

The NXP Semiconductors LPC1812JBD144E is a high-performance 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller running up to 180 MHz with 512 KB (512K x 8) of on-chip flash memory and 104 KB of SRAM, offered in a 144-lead LQFP package measuring 20 x 20 mm.

A microcontroller (MCU) is a single-chip computer: it integrates a CPU core, program and data memory, peripheral interfaces, clocking and debug logic onto one piece of silicon. An MCU sits at the lowest layer of the embedded hierarchy, below a system-on-chip and above the individual logic function. The Cortex-M3 core used here belongs to the ARMv7-M family, the mainstream embedded profile that balances deterministic interrupt latency with low power consumption, so the LPC1812JBD144E can run complex control loops, protocol stacks and human-machine interfaces without an external memory bus.

Key features of this device include a 180 MHz maximum CPU frequency for high code throughput, 512 KB of flash for firmware and data tables, and 104 KB of on-chip SRAM that removes the need for external SDRAM in mid-complexity designs. Operating from a 2.2 V to 3.6 V supply lets the same board serve 3.3 V industrial rails, and the 144-pin LQFP body exposes enough I/O for multiple UART, SPI, I2C and timer resources, plus dedicated Ethernet and USB host/device capability in this device family.

Technically, the part belongs to the NXP LPC18xx family of Cortex-M3 devices, which add system enhancements such as low-power operation, enhanced debug features and a high level of support-block integration. The 512K x 8 flash organization and 104 KB SRAM figure place it above entry-level Cortex-M0+ devices in code density while remaining simpler than pin-count-critical Cortex-M4 or M7 designs. Because the LQFP-144 lead count leaves generous routing room, the package avoids the assembly complexity of fine-pitch BGA options.

Typical applications include industrial control and data-acquisition panels, motor and motion controllers, building automation gateways, protocol bridges for industrial Ethernet, USB-to-serial interface products, and network-connected sensor nodes that need substantial flash for logging.

When designing around the LPC1812JBD144E, remember that the 144-pin LQFP footprint requires careful decoupling at every supply pin and adequate thermal copper under the device; keep high-speed and sensitive analogue routing away from the switching supply returns to avoid coupling noise into signal chains.

This page consolidates the device specifications, package details, pin- and part-level drop-in alternatives, and practical design guidance in one place so engineers can qualify the LPC1812JBD144E for an existing 144-pin design before opening a hardware change request.

Типичное применение

LPC1812JBD144E подходит для 6 применениеs: Industrial Control and HMI Panels, Industrial Ethernet Protocol Gateways, Motor and Motion Control, USB to Serial and Multi-Port Interface Products, Building Automation and HVAC Controllers, Connected Sensor and Data Acquisition Nodes.

🏭

Industrial Control and HMI Panels

The LPC1812JBD144E suits machine control panels and operator terminals where a fast core, a generous code footprint and many I/O lines are required. A 180 MHz ARM Cortex-M3 handles the supervisory loop, button and encoder scanning, and screen refresh timing with headroom left for a diagnostics stack. The 512 KB flash stores firmware, localized string tables and event logs, while 104 KB of SRAM removes the need for external memory on the display bus. The 144-lead LQFP provides enough pins for several UART channels to drive panel buses, plus timer outputs for stepper or solenoid control. In an industrial enclosure, operate from a 3.3 V rail within the 2.2 V to 3.6 V range and confirm the extended temperature grade suits the worst-case ambient.

🌐

Industrial Ethernet Protocol Gateways

A protocol gateway that translates between fieldbus and Ethernet is one of the strongest uses for the LPC1812JBD144E, because the device pairs a 180 MHz Cortex-M3 with 512 KB of flash for stack code and 104 KB of SRAM for frame buffers. Modbus, CANopen and MQTT handlers plus a TCP/IP stack fit comfortably in that memory budget. The 144-pin LQFP exposes the required UART, SPI and I2C channels for sensor and transceiver wiring, and the wide 2.2 V to 3.6 V operating range supports 3.3 V industrial rails directly. Pair the microcontroller with an Ethernet PHY such as the LAN8742-CZ-TR or KSZ9897RTXI, and isolate the field side with digital isolators so ground loops in long cable runs do not corrupt the communications.

⚡

Motor and Motion Control

For stepper, BLDC and servo motion controllers, the LPC1812JBD144E delivers the loop rate that current control algorithms demand. At 180 MHz the Cortex-M3 executes current sampling, commutation and fault handling well inside a fast control loop, and the 512 KB flash holds position tables and tuning parameters. Its 104 KB of SRAM is sufficient for multi-axis reference buffers without off-chip memory. The 144-pin LQFP offers the mix of timers, encoder capture channels, PWM outputs and analogue inputs that a motion board needs, and the 2.2 V to 3.6 V range matches 3.3 V gate-driver domains. Use the differential line-driver families for robust encoder and RS-485 field wiring, and keep switching node returns separated from the analogue ground plane.

🖥️

USB to Serial and Multi-Port Interface Products

Multi-port USB-to-serial and USB-to-field adapters benefit from the LPC1812JBD144E because 512 KB of flash and 104 KB of SRAM hold a USB stack plus several UART or SPI channel drivers at once. The 180 MHz core leaves processing headroom for per-port firmware tasks, statistics counters and a web configuration page served from flash. The 144-lead LQFP leaves generous routing space for the USB data pair, crystal, and multiple level-shifted serial transceivers, and the wide 2.2 V to 3.6 V supply range simplifies level planning across USB powered and externally powered variants. Add transceivers such as the MAX232-class and SP490 families for legacy RS-232 and RS-485 ports, and protect the USB interface with ESD devices near the connector.

🧩

Building Automation and HVAC Controllers

Building automation controllers must run many concurrent tasks while watching power budgets, and the LPC1812JBD144E fits that profile well. Its low-power oriented Cortex-M3 design supports sleep modes between scheduled events, while 512 KB of flash stores protocol handlers for multiple room-level standards and the 104 KB of SRAM holds scheduling tables and diagnostic buffers. The wide pin count of the LQFP-144 package allows several UART or I2C channels for thermostats, damper actuators and CO2 sensor buses, and the 2.2 V to 3.6 V range suits 3.3 V and 2.5 V sensor rails in the same enclosure. Use the SN65HVD37D family for RS-485 HVAC loops and keep the controller's switching supplies physically separated from the sensor analog section.

📊

Connected Sensor and Data Acquisition Nodes

Data acquisition nodes that combine analogue sensors with network reporting are another natural home for the LPC1812JBD144E. The 180 MHz core oversamples and filters several analogue channels quickly, the 512 KB flash holds calibration tables and long ring buffers, and 104 KB of SRAM supports windowed processing before data is transmitted. The 144-pin LQFP offers enough pins to attach multiple sensor front ends alongside UART and SPI sensor hubs, and the 2.2 V to 3.6 V operating range permits direct use of 3.3 V sensor rails. Add an Ethernet PHY for wired nodes or a radio module for wireless deployments, and use low-noise local regulation near the analogue section so the fast digital core does not inject supply ripple into measurement paths.

This particular ordering code pairs the 512 KB flash / 104 KB SRAM variant with a 144-lead LQFP package.
What is the maximum CPU frequency of the LPC1812JBD144E?
The LPC1812JBD144E operates up to 180 MHz. The NXP LPC1812 product page states that the LPC185x/3x/2x/1x family of Arm Cortex-M3 based microcontrollers operate at CPU frequencies of up to 180 MHz, and the distributor listings for this part repeat the 180 MHz maximum clock alongside the 512K x 8 flash organization. A 180 MHz Cortex-M3 core gives roughly six times the instruction throughput of a typical 32 MHz Cortex-M0+ design at comparable core architectures.
How much flash and SRAM does the LPC1812JBD144E have?
The LPC1812JBD144E carries 512 KB of flash memory organized as 512K x 8, plus 104 KB of on-chip SRAM. Distributor product records describe the device as an ARM Cortex-M3 LPC18xx microcontroller with 512KB (512K x 8) flash, and the 104K x 8 SRAM figure is confirmed in the component listings. That combination is large enough to hold a TCP/IP stack, a bootloader, application code and data buffers without external memory.
What supply voltage does the LPC1812JBD144E operate at?
The LPC1812JBD144E runs from a 2.2 V to 3.6 V supply. Component specification listings state the operating range as 2.2 V to 3.6 V, which covers 2.5 V, 3.0 V and 3.3 V system rails. This wide 3.3 V class range means the same board design can be reused across 3.0 V and 3.3 V industrial products, provided the brown-out and reset thresholds are checked against the low end of the range.
What package does the LPC1812JBD144E use?
The LPC1812JBD144E is supplied in a 144-lead LQFP package measuring 20 x 20 mm. Component records describe the device as 144LQFP (20x20), and the JBD144 part of the ordering code refers to that 144-pin LQFP outline. The LQFP-144 footprint is a sensible choice for industrial boards because 0.5 mm lead pitch is still inspectable optically and reflowable with standard stencil and paste volumes.
Where can I download the LPC1812JBD144E datasheet PDF?
The datasheet PDF is available from the manufacturer part page at nxp.com, listed under the LPC1812JBD144 entry, where the data sheet is published as a downloadable PDF. The same document covers the entire LPC185x/3x/2x/1x family, so peripheral descriptions, register maps and electrical characteristics for the LPC1812JBD144E are found in that single file rather than in a part-specific document.
Where can I find the LPC1812JBD144E pinout?
The pin configuration for the LPC1812JBD144E is given in the pin description table of the NXP LPC18xx family data sheet, using the 144-pin LQFP ordering diagram. Because the LPC1812JBD144E is a 144-lead LQFP with 0.5 mm pitch, the datasheet pin table is the authoritative source for exact ball positions, alternate functions and no-connect pins, and should be used directly when assigning PCB tracks and net classes.
Where can I buy the LPC1812JBD144E online?
The LPC1812JBD144E can be ordered for shipment through the Request a Quote form on this page. The part is catalogued by NXP Semiconductors and carried in distribution with a 144LQFP 20x20 mm package and 512 KB flash configuration. Submitting a quote request returns current availability, lot traceability and delivery scheduling for the exact ordering code, including any temperature-grade suffix you have qualified.
What is the price of the LPC1812JBD144E?
Pricing for the LPC1812JBD144E is released as a quote rather than a static figure, so the current unit and volume pricing is shown through the Request a Quote form on this page. Because distributor pricing for LQFP-144 Cortex-M3 devices moves with allocation and currency, a firm number should be taken from a live quote covering your quantities, packing (tray, tape and reel) and target date. Requesting a quote keeps the quoted price tied to a specific lot and delivery window.
What is the lead time for the LPC1812JBD144E?
The lead time depends on current factory allocation and is confirmed when a quote is placed through the Request a Quote form on this page. Because NXP schedules LPC18xx production in lots with lead-time bands that vary with demand, the stocking channel may hold material that a factory order would not. Ask for the earliest delivery date together with the shipping mode you intend to use so the schedule matches your assembly plan.
LPC1812JBD144E vs LPC1813JBD144E: which should I pick?
Choose the LPC1812JBD144E when 104 KB of SRAM is enough, and the LPC1813JBD144E when your design needs more RAM buffer. Both are NXP Cortex-M3 devices in the 144-pin LQFP outline running up to 180 MHz with 512 KB flash, and the LPC1813JBD144E increases on-chip SRAM by roughly 23 percent. Because the footprint and peripheral set are shared, the higher-memory variant is usually the simplest upgrade on an existing board.
What is the difference between the LPC1812JBD144E and the LPC1837JBD144E?
The main difference is memory: the LPC1837JBD144E carries 1024 KB of flash, twice the 512 KB of the LPC1812JBD144E, and adds integrated Ethernet MAC hardware. Both parts are 144-pin LQFP Cortex-M3 devices from the same NXP family, so the land pattern is unchanged, but the LPC1837JBD144E consumes more pins on the Ethernet interface. Pick the LPC1837JBD144E for networked gateways and the LPC1812JBD144E for cost-sensitive, non-networked control boards.
When should I choose the LPC1812JBD144E over the LPC1830FBD144K?
Choose the LPC1812JBD144E when your design must run at the extended temperature grade of the E suffix, when 104 KB of SRAM is sufficient, or when you already have an established 144-pin LQFP footprint. The LPC1830FBD144K shares the same LQFP-144 outline, the 180 MHz Cortex-M3 core and 512 KB of flash, but carries roughly 128 KB of SRAM and a standard temperature grade. For industrial equipment in extended-temperature enclosures, the LPC1812JBD144E is the safer choice.
Is the LPC1812JBD144E suitable for an industrial control panel?
Yes, the LPC1812JBD144E fits industrial control panels that need a fast core, generous code storage and many I/O. Its 180 MHz Cortex-M3 core and 512 KB of flash comfortably run a supervisory loop plus comms stacks, the 104 KB of SRAM allows network buffers without external memory, and the 144-lead LQFP gives enough pins for multiple serial ports, timer channels and digital I/O. Verify the exact temperature grade and isolation requirements for your enclosure before release.
What is the best drop-in replacement for the LPC1812JBD144E?
The best drop-in replacements are the other NXP LPC18xx devices in the same 144-pin LQFP outline, because they share the Cortex-M3 core, the 180 MHz clock and the pin arrangement. The LPC1813JBD144E matches flash exactly and adds SRAM, the LPC1837JBD144E matches the footprint with double flash plus Ethernet, and the LPC1830FBD144K matches the core and flash with more SRAM. Verify peripheral availability on the specific pins your design uses before committing to any swap.
What can replace the LPC1812JBD144E?
Parts that can replace the LPC1812JBD144E are other NXP LPC18xx 144-pin LQFP microcontrollers, such as the LPC1813JBD144E, the LPC1837JBD144E and the LPC1830FBD144K. No other-manufacturer Cortex-M3 device is a true pin-for-pin swap, because peripheral assignments, power and clock pins, and the Ethernet and USB routing differ even when the lead count and body size match. Treat cross-vendor Cortex-M3 parts as board-level redesigns rather than drop-ins.
Is the LPC1812JBD144E the same as the LPC1812JBD144?
They are the same silicon and the same 144-pin LQFP device, differing in the temperature grade marked by the trailing E. The LPC1812JBD144E is the extended-temperature ordering option, while the LPC1812JBD144 is the standard-grade version. Both share the ARM Cortex-M3 core, 180 MHz maximum clock, 512 KB flash and 104 KB SRAM, so the footprint and firmware are interchangeable provided the enclosure temperature matches the grade you order.
What are the key specifications of the LPC1812JBD144E that engineers should know?
The LPC1812JBD144E combines a 180 MHz ARM Cortex-M3 core, 512 KB of 512K x 8 flash, 104 KB of SRAM, a 2.2 V to 3.6 V supply range and a 144-lead LQFP package in a 20 x 20 mm body. Manufacturer and distributor records agree on the core, frequency, memory size, package and voltage range. The combination targets mid-to-high complexity embedded nodes: industrial HMI panels, protocol gateways, USB and Ethernet connected controllers.
Is there a pin-compatible alternative to the LPC1812JBD144E from another manufacturer?
No true pin-compatible alternative exists from another manufacturer. Parts such as the STM32F103ZET6 in LQFP-144 share only the package family and Cortex-M3 core class; they differ in clock speed, memory map, peripheral set and pin multiplexing, so they require board respin and firmware rework. For a no-change replacement, stay within the NXP LPC18xx 144-pin LQFP family listed on this page and re-verify the specific peripheral pins used by your design.

Справочные инженерные данные для LPC1812JBD144E — сравнение, рекомендации по проектированию и информация о соответствии.

Руководство по выбору

Choose the LPC1812JBD144E when your product needs a fast Cortex-M3 core, 512 KB of flash, 104 KB of SRAM and an extended temperature grade on a 144-lead LQFP footprint. Choose the LPC1813JBD144E if your buffers, RTOS heap or network stack need roughly 23 percent more SRAM at the same flash size and speed. Choose the LPC1837JBD144E or LPC1857JBD144E when the design requires 1024 KB of flash and integrated Ethernet MAC; both keep the same land pattern but consume pins for the network interface. Заметки по проектированию

Decouple every supply pin locally. Place a 100 nF ceramic capacitor at each VDD pin with a short, low-inductance path to the ground plane, and back it up with a bulk 4.7 uF to 10 uF low-ESR capacitor near the device. On a 144-lead LQFP the supply and ground pins alternate around the perimeter, so a radial capacitor placed only at one corner will leave long current loops that show up as brownout resets and ADC noise during switching activity. Keep the high-frequency return path on the same layer as the capacitor to minimise loop area.

Estimated: with a 180 MHz Cortex-M3 core and a 2.2 V to 3.6 V supply, per-pin dissipation is dominated by core dynamic current. At roughly 60 mA total core current from a 3.3 V rail, power is about 0.20 W, which a 20 x 20 mm LQFP with its exposed thermal behaviour and PCB copper can shed without a heat sink at 55 C ambient. Treat this as a guideline figure, not a datasheet rating, and confirm the junction temperature from the device thermal data in the NXP family data sheet before locking the copper pour area in your layout.

Route the 32.768 kHz and main crystal circuits on the component side with tight, symmetric traces and a solid ground reference directly beneath them, and keep switching regulator inductors and high-current traces on the opposite side of the board. On a 144-pin LQFP the escape routing is roomy, but pin 1 orientation and the no-connect pins must be followed exactly from the datasheet pin description table; a mirrored land pattern is the most common cause of a non-functional board. Verify the land pattern against the mechanical drawing, not against a generic LQFP-144 footprint.

The 180 MHz core means board-level signal integrity matters even though the device is a microcontroller. Keep I2C and SPI routing short, add series damping resistors on long edges, and place the Ethernet magnetic jack close to the PHY with the differential pairs referenced to a continuous ground plane. If the design uses the USB host or device port, route the D+/D- pair as a length-matched 90 ohm differential pair away from switching nodes. Separate analogue sensor inputs from the digital return path to prevent the fast core's supply ripple from appearing in measurements.

Two mistakes recur on LPC18xx designs. First, the 512 KB flash is not all available for code: bootloader, vector table, and configuration data consume part of it, so size the image against the linker script rather than the raw flash number. Second, migrating from a smaller LPC18xx member to the LPC1812JBD144E changes the SRAM size, and code that assumed the smaller figure can overflow the 104 KB heap at run time. Review the startup linker configuration and the memory map in the NXP family data sheet whenever the memory sizes differ.
