MPN: PIC18LF23K22-I/MV ✓ Hoạt độngPIC18LF23K22-I/MV Tóm tắt
What is a microcontroller (MCU)? An MCU is a single-chip computer that integrates a CPU core, program and data memory, peripherals, and I/O onto one silicon die. The PIC18 family is Microchip's high-performance 8-bit architecture, positioned above the baseline PIC16 and PIC10/12/16 families and below the 16-bit dsPIC and 32-bit PIC32 families. Within the PIC18K sub-family, the 'K' parts target low-power and high-precision analog applications, the 'LF' suffix specifies the 1.8 V–3.6 V extended power range, and the 'F' (non-LF) variants are 5 V tolerant.
Key features of this part include a 12-bit ADC with up to 17 channels, mTouch™ capacitive touch support, multiple communication peripherals (I2C, SPI, EUSART), four 8-bit timer/counters and two CCP modules, plus a nanoWatt XLP power management unit with multiple idle and sleep modes. The device integrates a precision internal oscillator and operates across the industrial temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C.
Architecturally, the PIC18LF23K22 uses an enhanced Harvard architecture with separate program and data buses, a 16-bit instruction word, and a hardware multiply/divide accelerator. Its 31-level hardware stack and 74 instructions provide deterministic interrupt response, while the peripheral pin-select (PPS) subsystem remaps digital peripherals to any I/O pin to simplify PCB routing on space-constrained boards.
Typical applications include battery-powered sensor nodes, low-power IoT edge devices, capacitive-touch user interfaces, small home appliances, and portable medical accessories where low sleep current, small UQFN footprint, and integrated analog peripherals are critical. The wide 1.8–3.6 V operating range allows direct connection to single-cell Li-ion or two-cell alkaline battery stacks.
A key design consideration: the 28-UQFN package has an exposed thermal pad that MUST be soldered to the PCB ground plane to meet thermal and mechanical reliability targets; for hand-prototyping or breadboard builds, choose the 28-SPDIP (PIC18LF23K22-I/SP) variant instead. The LF voltage range also requires careful verification of analog reference voltages—using a 5 V reference with a 3.3 V supply will damage the ADC.

Ghi chú thiết kế
Estimated: The 28-UQFN package has an exposed thermal pad (EP) that MUST be soldered to a ground plane on the PCB. Without proper soldering, mechanical reliability and thermal dissipation are compromised, and the device may fail during thermal cycling. Use a via array under the EP to connect to an internal ground plane; recommended via diameter is 0.2-0.3 mm with 0.5-0.8 mm pitch to allow solder wicking while preventing solder starvation.
Place a 100 nF decoupling capacitor as close as possible to each VDD pin and a single 10 µF bulk capacitor near the device. The PIC18LF23K22's nanoWatt XLP technology requires clean power to achieve the sub-100 nA deep-sleep current - noisy supplies can increase sleep current by orders of magnitude. For battery applications, use a low-Iq LDO such as MCP1700 (1.6 µA quiescent) to preserve battery life.
Do not exceed 3.6 V on VDD - the LF variant is NOT 5 V tolerant. Using the LF part on a 5 V rail will permanently damage the device; choose the PIC18F23K22-I/MV (2.3-5.5 V variant) instead. Also, ensure configuration bits (FOSC, WDTE, etc.) are correctly programmed before code execution; an unconfigured part will fail to start. Use MPLAB X IDE with the PICkit 5 or Snap debugger for safe configuration.
Keep analog inputs (AN0-ANx) short and away from switching signals to preserve ADC accuracy. The 12-bit ADC requires careful analog ground layout - a single-point star ground from the analog section to the digital ground near the MCU's VSS pin minimizes ground-loop noise. Place a 100 nF bypass capacitor at each AVdd pin if used.
