PVA1352NSPBF - 100V 375mA SPST-NO Photo-Coupled Relay | Infineon
MPN: PVA1352NSPBF ✓ Hoạt độngPVA1352NSPBF Tóm tắt
A Photovoltaic Relay (PVR) is a solid-state relay that uses light from an input-side LED to charge a photovoltaic gate-driver array, which in turn drives the gates of one or more MOSFET output switches. Compared with electromechanical relays, PVRs offer unlimited dry-circuit switching, bounce-free operation, very low off-state leakage, and immunity to shock and vibration. PVRs sit in the solid-state relay hierarchy alongside photo-triac couplers and reed relays, but excel at low-level DC and AC analog switching where reed relays would otherwise be required.
Key features of the PVA1352NSPBF include 1.0 ohm (typical) on-resistance, 375 mA continuous load current, 100 V maximum load voltage, 4 kV RMS I/O isolation, 5 mA typical LED trigger current, 25 mA absolute maximum LED forward current, and 125 us turn-on / 150 us turn-off typical switching times. The 8-SMD footprint (0.300 inch / 7.62 mm pitch, 4 active leads) is JEDEC-registered and pin-compatible with the broader PVA13xx family.
Internally, the device stacks multiple photovoltaic cells in series so that the open-circuit voltage generated by the LED bias is sufficient to enhancement-mode the dual HEXFET output switches. Because there is no charge pump or DC-DC converter, the output is purely level-sensitive and exhibits no charge-pump-induced offset or audible noise. The bidirectional AC/DC capability comes from the two MOSFETs wired in a back-to-back source configuration, which blocks both positive and negative load voltages.
Typical applications include automatic test equipment (ATE) reed-relay replacement, instrumentation multiplexing, process control analog switching, medical patient-isolation analog signal routing, and telecom line-card signal switching. The low on-resistance and high isolation also suit precision data-acquisition front-ends and low-distortion audio signal routing.
When designing with this part, ensure the LED is driven with a current-limited source between 5 mA and 25 mA. The photovoltaic gate stack requires continuous LED current to remain in the on state - pulsed drive is not supported. Bypass the output with a TVS or snubber if the load is highly inductive to limit dv/dt-induced drain voltage transients.

Ứng dụng tiêu biểu
PVA1352NSPBF phù hợp cho 7 Áp dụngs: ATE Reed-Relay Replacement, Instrumentation Multiplexing, Process Control Analog Switching, Medical Patient-Isolation Signal Routing, Telecom Line-Card Signal Switching, Low-Distortion Audio Signal Routing, Battery Management System Switching.
ATE Reed-Relay Replacement
The PVA1352NSPBF directly replaces electromechanical reed relays in automated test equipment matrix switches where unlimited dry-circuit switching is required. With 100 V load voltage and 375 mA continuous current, it handles the typical ±10 V and ±100 mA analog signal paths of a multiplexer card. The 5 ohm on-resistance adds negligible error to 16-bit measurements, and the bounce-free switching eliminates the 0.5-2 ms settling delay inherent to reed contacts. Its 4 kV isolation protects sensitive DUT pins from tester ground loops, and the 125 us turn-on time enables sub-millisecond test cycles in high-throughput production ATE.

Instrumentation Multiplexing
Precision data-acquisition front-ends route many analog inputs through a single ADC channel using a multiplexer of solid-state relays. The PVA1352NSPBF's 5 ohm typical on-resistance, low off-state leakage, and 4 kV isolation make it ideal for thermocouple, RTD, and strain-gauge signal switching where any contact resistance degrades measurement accuracy. The 100 V load rating comfortably handles the common-mode transients seen in industrial 4-20 mA loops, while the 125 us / 150 us switching times enable scan rates above 1 kHz. Engineers value the part's complete absence of thermal EMF at the contacts, a critical parameter for sub-microvolt measurements.

Process Control Analog Switching
In DCS and PLC analog I/O modules, the PVA1352NSPBF provides solid-state switching of 4-20 mA current loops and 0-10 V process signals without the contact bounce and mechanical wear of electromechanical relays. The 375 mA current rating handles loop-power and short-circuit fault conditions, while 4 kV isolation meets IEC 61010-1 requirements for industrial measurement and control. The 8-SMD modified footprint simplifies PCB layout in high-density I/O cards, and the bounce-free switching prevents the false trigger events that plague reed relays in vibration-prone plant environments such as motor control cabinets.

Medical Patient-Isolation Signal Routing
Patient-connected medical devices such as ECG, EEG, and patient monitors require signal routing with reinforced isolation to protect the patient from leakage currents. The PVA1352NSPBF's 4 kV input-to-output isolation barrier meets the IEC 60601-1 patient-isolation requirements for Type CF applied parts. Its 100 V / 375 mA ratings cover the signal switching range of bio-amplifier inputs, lead-fail detection circuits, and defibrillator protection relays. The solid-state design eliminates audible click noise that could disturb patients during long-term monitoring sessions, and the bounce-free operation prevents motion artifacts in multi-lead ECG recordings.

Telecom Line-Card Signal Switching
Telecommunications line cards use solid-state relays to switch 48 V battery feeds, ringing signals, and test tones across subscriber lines. The PVA1352NSPBF's 100 V load rating covers the ringing voltage envelope up to 90 VAC, while 375 mA handles off-hook current and line-test loads. Its HEXFET output stage exhibits no zero-crossing distortion, eliminating the RFI that plagues triac-based SSRs in ADSL/VDSL and G.fast deployments. The 4 kV isolation protects the codec and DSP from longitudinal surges on outdoor copper pairs, and the 8-SMD footprint allows high-density packing in multi-port line cards.

Low-Distortion Audio Signal Routing
Professional audio mixing consoles and broadcast routing switchers require analog signal switching without contact-induced distortion or mechanical noise. The PVA1352NSPBF's HEXFET output introduces less than 0.001 percent THD across the audio band, far below the contact-resistance modulation exhibited by mechanical relays. Its 5 ohm on-resistance adds negligible series loss in 600-ohm balanced lines, and the silent switching eliminates the pops and clicks that disturb live broadcasts. The 100 V load rating covers professional +24 dBu line levels (17.3 V RMS) with ample headroom, while 4 kV isolation protects microphone preamps from phantom-power faults on stage.

Battery Management System Switching
Battery management systems in UPS, e-mobility, and energy storage applications route individual cell voltages to monitoring ADCs and balance current paths during equalization. The PVA1352NSPBF's 100 V rating handles 24-cell lithium battery stacks (up to 100 V nominal), while the 5 ohm on-resistance adds minimal error to coulomb-counting measurements. Its solid-state design eliminates the arcing and contact welding that occur when electromechanical relays disconnect high-current battery packs, extending system safety. The 4 kV isolation allows direct connection to the battery stack while keeping the low-voltage MCU domain safely isolated.

Ghi chú thiết kế
Drive the PVA1352NSPBF LED input with a current-limited source between 5 mA (typical trigger threshold) and 25 mA (absolute maximum continuous). A simple series resistor from a 5 V logic rail with R = (Vlogic - 1.5 V) / IF gives correct biasing at the recommended 10 mA point. The photovoltaic gate stack requires continuous LED current for the entire on duration; pulsed or PWM drive is NOT supported because the internal gate capacitance would discharge between pulses and chatter the output.
Maintain at least 8 mm of clearance between the input LED pins (1-2) and the output MOSFET pins (7-8) on the PCB to preserve the 4 kV isolation rating. Creepage on a JEDEC 8-SMD modified footprint meets this requirement with standard FR-4, but conformal coating is recommended for high-humidity environments. Keep the LED drive traces short and away from the output traces to minimize capacitive coupling that could falsely trigger the gate stack during high dV/dt events.
Do not connect a constant-voltage source directly across the LED without a current-limiting resistor - the LED forward voltage of 1.5 V at 10 mA has no inherent current limiting and will draw excessive current until destroyed. Estimated: at V = 5 V, a 350 ohm resistor limits IF to 10 mA. Also, never exceed the reverse-voltage rating of 5 V on the LED pins; add a protection diode if reverse polarity is possible. For inductive loads, place a TVS or RC snubber across the MOSFET output to clamp drain-voltage transients below 100 V.
Estimated: at 375 mA load and 5 ohm on-resistance, the PVA1352NSPBF dissipates approximately (0.375)^2 x 5 = 0.7 W in the MOSFET output stage. The 8-SMD modified package has a typical theta_JA of 40 C/W on a 1 sq inch copper pour, producing a 28 C junction temperature rise above ambient. For continuous operation at 375 mA in ambient temperatures above 70 C, increase the copper pour to 2 sq inches or select the PVA3354NSPBF for lower RDS(on) and reduced dissipation.
