ILD2-X007T Übersicht
A phototransistor optocoupler is a galvanic isolation device that transfers an electrical signal between two circuits using a short optical transmission path. The category hierarchy is: optocoupler (optoisolator) -> transistor-output optoisolator -> signal isolation device -> interface IC -> semiconductor. Phototransistor optocouplers are used wherever a low-speed logic or analog signal must cross an isolation barrier without galvanic conduction, replacing slower, larger, or less reliable electromechanical solutions in industrial, medical, and consumer systems.
Key features of the ILD2-X007T include: dual independent channels in one package (half the PCB footprint of two singles); 5300 Vrms isolation voltage (per Vishay test method) for reinforced insulation in mains-coupled circuits; CTR > 100% at IF = 10 mA, VCE = 10 V for high-transfer-ratio signal paths; 70 V collector-emitter breakdown voltage; 100 mA forward current rating; -55 C to +100 C operating temperature range; and surface-mount 8-SMD gull-wing lead form compatible with IR reflow.
The architecture is a GaAs infrared LED die optically coupled to two silicon NPN phototransistor dies inside a single molded DIP-derived SMD body. The base of each phototransistor is brought out to an external pin, enabling designers to bias the base (typically through a resistor to ground) to adjust switching speed and CTR. With the base open, the part operates as a standard phototransistor output with typical switching times in the 2-20 microsecond range, suitable for logic-level signaling, feedback paths in switch-mode power supplies, and analog signal isolation below about 100 kHz.
Typical applications of the ILD2-X007T include: logic-to-logic interfacing between microcontrollers and 230 VAC-referenced triac drivers; feedback in isolated AC-DC and DC-DC converters (primary-to-secondary optocoupler); industrial PLC input modules; medical patient-isolation circuits; and digital instrumentation that must meet IEC 60747-5-2 reinforced insulation requirements. The wide CTR margin (>100%) simplifies drive-circuit design and tolerates LED aging in long-life products.
Design trade-offs: phototransistor optocouplers are slower than high-speed (logic-gate) optocouplers and add LED drive current to the BOM. The -X007T SMD form is chosen where automated assembly and isolation barrier height are both required; the through-hole ILD2-X009T version is preferred for hand-prototyping and high-voltage creepage.

Typische Anwendungen
ILD2-X007T ist geeignet für 7 Anwendungs: Isolated Feedback in Switch-Mode Power Supplies, Industrial PLC Digital Input Modules, Medical Patient-Monitoring Isolation, Triac Driver Interface for AC Loads, Audio Signal Isolation Between Ground Domains, Isolated RS-232 / RS-485 Communication Interface, Home Appliance Control Board Isolation.
Isolated Feedback in Switch-Mode Power Supplies
The ILD2-X007T's 5300 Vrms isolation and CTR > 100 % make it well suited to primary-to-secondary feedback in isolated AC-DC and DC-DC switch-mode power supplies. Channel 1 carries the TL431-driven error-amplifier feedback signal back across the isolation barrier to the primary-side PWM controller, while Channel 2 is often used for sync or enable signaling in half-bridge topologies. The high CTR margin tolerates LED aging across the supply's 10-year life, reducing field failures. Compared to logic-gate optocouplers, the ILD2-X007T's analog-friendly transfer characteristic supports the linear feedback loop without compromising on isolation.
Empfohlen
Industrial PLC Digital Input Modules
Industrial PLC input modules use the ILD2-X007T to isolate 24 V field wiring from the PLC's internal logic. Each channel handles one digital input, with the GaAs LED driven by the field-side 24 V through a current-limit resistor. The 5300 Vrms isolation protects the backplane from field-side transients and surges per IEC 61131-2. CTR > 100 % ensures the optocoupler saturates cleanly at the minimum field voltage, while the 70 V VCEO rating handles common-mode transients on long cable runs. Designers typically derate the LED current to 5-10 mA to extend operating life.

Medical Patient-Monitoring Isolation
The ILD2-X007T's 5300 Vrms isolation meets the reinforced-insulation requirements of IEC 60601-1 for patient-connected medical electronics, where creepage and clearance between applied parts and the operator-accessible chassis must exceed 8 mm. Dual-channel integration allows one part to handle both ECG signal leads (channel 1) and the right-leg-drive return (channel 2) in patient monitors. The CTR > 100 % margin is critical because medical equipment must operate reliably for 7+ years without recalibration. Designers should still add a secondary isolation barrier (e.g. isolated DC-DC) for full type-CF compliance.

Triac Driver Interface for AC Loads
The ILD2-X007T can interface low-voltage microcontrollers to mains-referenced triac drivers in HVAC, appliance, and solid-state-relay modules. Channel 1 carries the zero-crossing-detection feedback from the mains side back to the MCU, while Channel 2 carries the firing command to the triac-driver optocoupler (typically a MOC3021-style part). The dual-channel configuration cuts the PCB area in half compared with two single-channel optocouplers. Designers must maintain 8 mm creepage on the PCB between the 230 VAC side and the low-voltage side to satisfy IEC 60730-1.

Audio Signal Isolation Between Ground Domains
Audio equipment that bridges two ground domains (e.g. computer sound card connected to a balanced mixer) often uses the ILD2-X007T to break ground loops that introduce 50/60 Hz hum. Channel 1 carries the left-channel analog audio while Channel 2 carries the right-channel analog audio. The ILD2's phototransistor output supports analog signal transfer up to about 100 kHz with low distortion, provided the LED is biased in the linear region. CTR > 100 % ensures adequate signal swing at the phototransistor collector. For high-end audio, a high-linearity optocoupler such as the IL300 is preferred.

Isolated RS-232 / RS-485 Communication Interface
Although logic-gate optocouplers are more common for high-speed data isolation, the ILD2-X007T can be used for low-speed isolated RS-232 handshaking lines or low-bit-rate RS-485 repeater isolation. Channel 1 carries the data direction-control signal while Channel 2 carries the data itself, with both crossing the same isolation barrier. The 5300 Vrms isolation rating protects sensitive fieldbus nodes from ground-potential differences in industrial installations. For full-duplex data rates above 115 kbps, designers should select a high-speed logic-gate optocoupler such as the HCPL-2212-500E.

Home Appliance Control Board Isolation
Washing machines, dishwashers, and induction cooktops use the ILD2-X007T to isolate the user-interface MCU from the mains-referenced power-stage. Channel 1 isolates the relay-coil drive signal and Channel 2 isolates the zero-cross detection for triac-based heating elements. The 5300 Vrms isolation and the 8-SMD gull-wing package survive wave-soldering or reflow on the appliance's control board. CTR > 100 % ensures reliable operation across the wide mains-voltage range (100-240 VAC). Compliance with IEC 60335-1 is supported by the datasheet's reinforced-insulation test results.

Designhinweise
Do not drive the ILD2-X007T's input LED at more than the 100 mA absolute-max forward current. A series resistor sized for IF = 5-15 mA typically yields the best CTR-vs-life trade-off. Designers should also add a reverse-bias protection diode across the LED if reverse transients are possible. The base pins (internal) are not brought out on this part; if base-bias is required for switching-speed tuning, choose the ILQ-series or ILD6-series with external base pin.
The 8-SMD gull-wing package provides 5300 Vrms isolation only if the surrounding PCB maintains at least 8 mm creepage between the input-side (LED) and output-side (transistor) copper pours. Cut slots in the PCB between the two halves if the application requires reinforced insulation per IEC 60747-5-2. Place the load resistor from each phototransistor collector to its supply rail directly at the package pin to minimize switching-time degradation from stray capacitance.
Estimated: the ILD2-X007T dissipates approximately (IF * VF) + (IC * VCE) per channel. At IF = 10 mA (VF ~ 1.2 V) and IC = 5 mA (VCE = 5 V), each channel dissipates ~37 mW and the package dissipates ~74 mW total - well within the 150 mW-per-channel datasheet rating. At maximum LED forward current (100 mA) the dissipation rises to ~120 mW per channel; ensure the PCB provides adequate copper area or forced-air cooling if sustained operation at IF > 30 mA is required.
The ILD2-X007T's phototransistor has a typical turn-off time of 20 microseconds (with the base open), making it suitable for signals below 50 kHz. For data rates above 100 kbps, switch to a logic-gate optocoupler such as the HCPL-2212-500E. To speed up turn-off, add a 100 kohm base-to-emitter resistor on a similar optocoupler that has the base pin accessible (e.g. ILQ-series).
