STM32F091RBT6 Descripción general

The STMicroelectronics STM32F091RBT6 is a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0 microcontroller in the STM32F0 Access line, offering 128 KB Flash, 32 KB SRAM, and a 48 MHz CPU in a 64-pin LQFP (10x10 mm) package. It integrates CAN 2.0B, USB 2.0 Full-Speed (without internal PHY), a 12-bit ADC, a 12-bit DAC, and 12 timers, providing a rich set of peripherals for cost-sensitive embedded designs.

A microcontroller (MCU) is a single-chip computer that integrates a CPU core, volatile and non-volatile memory, and programmable I/O peripherals. The STM32F0 family positions itself as the entry point to ST's Cortex-M0 portfolio, optimized for 8/16-bit replacement by delivering higher performance (48 MHz, 38 DMIPS) at comparable or lower system cost. Within the STM32 taxonomy, the STM32F0 sits below the Cortex-M3/M4 STM32F1/F3 lines and the Cortex-M4/M7 STM32F4 lines; it shares the same STM32 standard peripheral library and STM32CubeMX ecosystem for code portability.

Key features of the STM32F091RBT6 include 128 KB Flash with read-while-write support, 32 KB SRAM, a 12-bit 1 MSPS ADC with up to 16 channels, two 12-bit DAC channels, two I2C, two SPI, four USART, one USB 2.0 Full-Speed, one CAN 2.0B, and one HDMI-CEC interface. Operating voltage spans 2.0 V to 3.6 V, with low-power Run, Sleep, Stop, and Standby modes consuming as little as a few microamperes, plus a real-time clock and battery backup domain.

Architecturally, the Cortex-M0 core delivers 0.9 DMIPS/MHz using Thumb-2 instructions, paired with a single-cycle multiplier and a Nested Vectored Interrupt Controller (NVIC). The device supports serial-wire debug (SWD) and JTAG, and ST's standard HAL/LL drivers in the STM32Cube ecosystem make firmware migration across STM32 families straightforward.

Typical applications include USB HID peripherals, CAN node endpoints in industrial networks, low-cost motor control boards, USB-CDC virtual COM ports, smart sensors, and consumer appliances. The wide operating voltage and integrated CAN make it attractive for both 3.3 V industrial nodes and battery-powered consumer devices.

When designing with this MCU, allocate decoupling capacitance of 100 nF per VDD pin plus a bulk 4.7 uF near the regulator, and ensure VDDA/VREF+ filtering for ADC accuracy. For USB, route the DP/DM pair as a 90 ohm differential and use the dedicated USB power-domain pins per the reference manual.

This page synthesizes distributor pricing, parametric alternatives, and practical design notes that complement the ST datasheet and reference manual, helping engineers evaluate the STM32F091RBT6 for production BOM decisions.

Notas de diseño

Place a 100 nF X7R ceramic decoupling capacitor on each of the four VDD pins (VDD_1, VDD_2, VDD_3, VDD_4) plus a bulk 4.7-10 uF near VDD_1. Tie VDDA directly to VDD with its own 100 nF + 1 uF network to reduce ADC noise; add 10 nF + 1 uF on VREF+ when used. Ensure VDDA and VDD difference never exceeds 0.4 V to avoid latch-up. The MCU draws roughly 20-25 mA active at 48 MHz across all peripherals, so budget the regulator accordingly.

Route the USB DP/DM pair as a 90-ohm differential with no stub branches and keep them away from clock traces; place the 33-ohm series damping resistors within 5 mm of the MCU pins. Place the HSE crystal and its load capacitors (typically 10-20 pF) within 5 mm of OSC_IN/OSC_OUT, and guard the LSE 32.768 kHz crystal traces against digital coupling. SWDIO and SWCLK should be routed with 4.7 kohm pull-ups to VDD and accessible via test points for production programming.

Do not forget to configure the BOOT0 pin via a 10 kohm pull-down for normal boot from Flash - leaving it floating causes unpredictable boot modes. Ensure NRST has the recommended 100 nF + 10 kohm reset network to provide clean POR behavior; missing components may cause brown-out-like lockups. For CAN applications, do not omit the TJA1051T/3 transceiver between the MCU's CAN_TX/RX and the bus; the STM32's CAN peripheral is not isolated and requires a true bus driver for EMC compliance.
