ADUM3154BRSZ Présentation
A digital isolator is a component that provides electrical isolation between two circuits while allowing digital signals to pass across the isolation barrier. It is essential in applications where ground potential differences, noise, or safety requirements demand galvanic separation. The ADUM3154BRSZ uses Analog Devices' iCoupler chip-scale transformer technology, which offers advantages over optocouplers in terms of speed, power consumption, and reliability.
Key features include a common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) of 25 kV/µs, low propagation delay and jitter, and support for up to four slave devices. The device integrates multiple isolation channels for SPI signals (CLK, MO/SI, MI/SO, SS) and additional control channels, simplifying system design. It operates from two supply voltages: VDD1 (3.0V to 3.6V) and VDD2 (4.5V to 5.5V), allowing level shifting between different logic domains.
The ADUM3154BRSZ is part of the ADuM315x family, which includes variants with different channel configurations and isolation ratings. The device is production-ready and available in tape and reel packaging. It is RoHS compliant and suitable for industrial, medical, and communication applications where reliable isolation is critical.
Typical applications include isolated SPI interfaces in motor control, data acquisition systems, and industrial automation. The device's high CMTI ensures reliable operation in noisy environments, and its low propagation delay supports high-speed SPI communication. When designing with this device, proper PCB layout is essential to maintain isolation performance and minimize coupling between the two sides.

Notes de conception
For optimal isolation performance, maintain a clearance of at least 8 mm between the primary and secondary sides of the PCB. Use a solid ground plane on each side, but do not connect the grounds together except through the isolator. Place decoupling capacitors (0.1 µF) close to each VDD pin to minimize noise.
Keep the SPI signal traces as short as possible and avoid routing them near high-voltage or high-current traces. Use differential routing for CLK and data lines if possible to reduce EMI. Ensure that the isolation barrier is not bridged by any copper traces or components.
Do not exceed the absolute maximum ratings for VDD1 and VDD2. Ensure that the input signals do not exceed the supply voltages. Also, avoid applying signals to the isolated side before VDD2 is powered, as this can cause latch-up. Refer to the datasheet for proper power-up sequencing.
