AMC1306M25DWVR Présentation
An isolated delta-sigma modulator is a type of analog-to-digital converter that oversamples the input signal and transmits a digital bitstream across an isolation barrier, where a digital sinc filter (typically in an MCU, DSP, or FPGA such as the TMS320F2800x C2000 family) reconstructs the measured current. In the power-management hierarchy it forms the front end of an isolated current-measurement chain: shunt resistor, isolated modulator, digital filter, current feedback for control loops.
Key features include excellent DC accuracy: offset error of ±50 uV (max), offset drift of 1 uV/C (max), gain error of ±0.2% (max), and gain drift of ±40 ppm/C (max). The device delivers a 16-bit data stream at 78 kSPS (with a 10 MHz input clock) and provides 100 kV/us typical common-mode transient immunity (CMTI), making it robust in electrically noisy inverter environments. The AMC1306 family is pin-compatible across ±50-mV and ±250-mV input ranges and Manchester-coded or uncoded output options.
The AMC1306M25 is ideal for motor control phase-current sensing, solar inverters, traction inverters, and industrial automation where accurate, galvanically isolated current measurement drives safety and efficiency. The capacitive isolation barrier resists magnetic interference, unlike transformer-based isolation.
Design tip: place the shunt resistor close to the input pins with Kelvin connections to minimize parasitic inductance, and power the high-voltage side from a clean isolated 5V supply such as the UCC14240 iso-bias converter.

Applications typiques
AMC1306M25DWVR convient pour 6 applications: Motor Control Phase-Current Sensing, Solar Inverter Current Measurement, Traction Inverters (Automotive EV), AC Motor Drives and PLC Analog I/O, DC Fast Charging Infrastructure, Wind and Grid Power Converters.
Motor Control Phase-Current Sensing
The AMC1306M25's ±250 mV input range and 78 kSPS output at 10 MHz clock provide the bandwidth and accuracy needed for FOC phase-current loops in industrial servo and traction drives. Its 100 kV/us typical CMTI withstands dv/dt from fast-switching IGBT and SiC stages, while the 7000 VPEAK reinforced isolation separates the control ground from the power stage. The bitstream feeds the C2000 SDFM peripheral, enabling sub-cycle current feedback; shunt-based sensing avoids bandwidth limits of hall-effect sensors.
Recommandé
Solar Inverter Current Measurement
Grid-tied solar inverters require precise, isolated DC and AC current feedback to meet efficiency and safety targets. The AMC1306M25's ±0.2% max gain error and 1 uV/C max offset drift keep measurement error low across the full -40C to +125C ambient range of outdoor inverters. The capacitive isolation barrier resists magnetic interference from power magnetics, and the CMOS bitstream isolates the low-voltage controller from the 600-1000 V DC bus. Kelvin-connected shunt placement preserves the ±50 uV offset advantage.
Recommandé
Traction Inverters (Automotive EV)
For EV traction inverters, the AEC-Q100 qualified AMC1306M25-Q1 variant provides the same ±250 mV input and 100 kV/us CMTI in the identical DWV package, letting one PCB serve automotive and industrial builds. Reinforced isolation per VDE 0884-17 supports functional safety isolation between the 400-800 V battery domain and the low-voltage vehicle network. High CMTI is essential next to SiC MOSFET bridges switching at 20-50 kV/us edges; the 78 kSPS stream supports high-bandwidth torque-control loops.
Recommandé
AC Motor Drives and PLC Analog I/O
Industrial drives and programmable logic controller analog modules use the AMC1306M25 to measure motor line currents galvanically isolated from the controller. The ±250 mV range accommodates economical milliohm shunts at tens of amps, while the 16-bit effective resolution supports overload and torque diagnostics. Because the AMC1306 family is pin-compatible across input ranges, designers can stock one PCB footprint and populate AMC1306M25 or AMC1306M05 depending on the shunt chosen for each power rating.
Recommandé
DC Fast Charging Infrastructure
DC fast chargers and onboard chargers need isolated current feedback on the high-voltage DC bus for current control, metering, and safety shutdown. The AMC1306M25's reinforced 7000 VPEAK isolation and stable ±40 ppm/C gain drift maintain measurement accuracy over wide charger temperature swings, and the CMOS bitstream output simplifies isolation of the digital domain. Its capacitive barrier is immune to the magnetic fields generated by high-power DC/DC converter transformers.
Recommandé
Wind and Grid Power Converters
Wind turbine converters and grid-scale power conversion systems operate in high-noise electromagnetic environments where transformer-based isolation can corrupt measurements. The AMC1306M25's capacitive double isolation barrier is highly resistant to magnetic interference per the TI datasheet, and its 100 kV/us typical CMTI tolerates transient events during converter switching and grid faults. The 78 kSPS data rate supports protective current monitoring with adequate margin for grid-code compliance algorithms.

Notes de conception
Connect the shunt resistor to INP/INN with Kelvin (4-wire) sense traces routed as a tightly coupled differential pair. Parasitic trace inductance in series with the shunt causes gain peaking and ringing at the modulator input; keep the loop area under a few square millimeters and place the AMC1306M25 within 10 mm of the shunt. Do not route power current through the sense traces.
The high-side supply directly sets offset accuracy. Decouple VDD1 with 100 nF plus 1 uF ceramics as close to pins 1-2 as possible, and generate the isolated 5 V rail with a low-noise isolated bias device such as the UCC14240 rather than a bare flyback. Avoid ground bounce between GND1 and the shunt reference point; a single-point star connection preserves the ±50 uV offset specification.
Process the DATa bitstream with the C2000 SDFM peripheral or an FPGA sinc3 filter; the clock-to-data skew must respect the datasheet setup/hold timing at 10 MHz. For long clock traces on the low side, series-terminate to control ringing. Verify CMTI margin: with SiC bridges, keep the AMC1306M25 away from gate-driver loops where dv/dt can exceed the 100 kV/us rating locally.
