LV14360 - 60V 3A Step-Down Buck Converter | Texas Instruments
MPN: LV14360PDDAR ✓ פעילLV14360PDDAR סקירה
A step-down converter, also known as a buck converter, is a DC-DC switching regulator that efficiently reduces a higher input voltage to a lower output voltage. It is a fundamental building block in power management, converting unregulated or higher-voltage supplies into stable, lower-voltage rails for electronic systems. The LV14360 uses constant frequency peak current mode control with sleep mode at light load to achieve high efficiency, reducing power loss and extending battery life.
Key features include a quiescent current of 300 uA in sleep mode, an ultra-low 1-uA shutdown current, and an adjustable output voltage down to 0.8 V. The device is internally compensated, which reduces design time and requires fewer external components. It also features cycle-by-cycle current limiting, thermal shutdown, and a power-good output for system monitoring.
The LV14360 implements constant frequency peak current mode control, providing fast transient response and stable operation over a wide range of input and output voltages. The integrated high-side MOSFET minimizes external component count and simplifies layout. The device is designed for high light-load efficiency, making it ideal for battery-powered systems that spend significant time in standby or low-load conditions.
Typical applications include industrial power supplies, automotive body electronics, battery-powered equipment, and point-of-load regulation. The wide input range allows direct operation from 12-V and 24-V buses, as well as automotive battery voltages during cranking and load-dump conditions.
When designing with the LV14360, ensure proper input and output capacitor selection to maintain stability and minimize ripple. The exposed pad should be soldered to a large copper area for effective heat dissipation, especially at high load currents.

יישומים טיפוסיים
LV14360PDDAR מתאים עבור 6 יישוםs: Industrial Power Supplies, Automotive Body Electronics, Battery-Powered Equipment, Point-of-Load Regulation, 12V/24V Distributed Power Systems, Evaluation and Prototyping.
Industrial Power Supplies
The LV14360's 4.3-V to 60-V input range allows direct connection to 24-V industrial buses with ample transient headroom. Its 3-A output and internal compensation simplify PLC, sensor, and actuator supply designs with minimal external components. Sleep-mode operation at 300 uA keeps standby losses low in always-on factory equipment, while cycle-by-cycle current limiting and thermal shutdown protect against fault conditions common in industrial environments.
מומלץ
Automotive Body Electronics
The wide 60-V input rating tolerates automotive cranking profiles and load-dump transients without additional front-end protection in many designs. The 300 uA sleep-mode quiescent current supports battery-connected modules that must minimize key-off drain, and the power-good output enables supervisory integration. For AEC-Q100-qualified programs, the related TPS54360QDDARQ1 shares the same 8-pin DDA footprint for drop-in migration.
מומלץ
Battery-Powered Equipment
With 300 uA quiescent current in sleep mode and only 1 uA shutdown current, the LV14360 dramatically extends standby battery life in portable instruments, test equipment, and wireless field devices. The high light-load efficiency architecture keeps conversion losses low even when the system idles at milliamp loads, while the wide 4.3-V input floor allows operation from partially discharged multi-cell battery packs down to end-of-discharge voltage.
מומלץ
Point-of-Load Regulation
As a point-of-load converter, the LV14360 steps down intermediate 12-V or 24-V rails to 0.8-V-plus logic or analog voltages at up to 3 A. Constant frequency peak current mode control delivers fast transient response to sudden load steps, and internal compensation eliminates external loop design. The integrated high-side MOSFET reduces solution size, making the 4.89-mm x 3.9-mm HSOIC footprint attractive for densely populated boards.
מומלץ
12V/24V Distributed Power Systems
The LV14360 converts unregulated 12-V and 24-V distribution rails into stable local supplies with up to 60-V input tolerance for wiring-harness transients. Its 2-MHz-capable switching allows small inductors and fast loop response in compact distributed architectures. Sleep-mode IQ of 300 uA minimizes no-load losses across many point-of-use converters, improving overall system standby efficiency in building automation and network infrastructure.
מומלץ
Evaluation and Prototyping
Texas Instruments offers the LV14360PEVM evaluation board, enabling rapid validation of the converter in target power-supply designs. The EVM demonstrates recommended external component selection, PCB layout with exposed-pad thermal design, and measured efficiency across the 4.3-V to 60-V input range. Engineers can verify load transient response, startup sequencing, and power-good signaling before committing to a custom PCB layout.

הערות תכנון
The 8-pin HSOIC exposed pad is the primary thermal path and also the switching node connection. Solder the exposed pad to at least 1 square inch of PCB copper with an array of thermal vias to the ground plane for reliable 3-A operation. At 24-V input and 3-A loads, conduction and switching losses concentrate in the exposed pad; inadequate copper causes thermal shutdown cycling.
Place the input capacitor within 5 mm of the VIN pin with a low-ESR ceramic (typically 10 uF rated 100 V). Keep the SW/bootstrap loop short to minimize radiated EMI. Route the feedback trace away from the switch node and inductor; use a ground-referenced guard trace if the FB trace must cross the power section.
Do not omit the bootstrap capacitor between BOOT and SW - a 0.1-uF ceramic is typically required. Ensure the minimum input of 4.3 V is respected during brownout; the device can misbehave below this threshold. For light-load battery applications, confirm the sleep-mode threshold suits your minimum load to realize the 300-uA IQ benefit.
