LT1210CR Обзор
A current feedback amplifier (CFA) is a class of op-amp whose inverting input impedance is intentionally low and whose small-signal bandwidth is set primarily by the feedback resistor rather than the closed-loop gain. CFAs therefore maintain near-constant bandwidth across a wide range of gains, in contrast to voltage feedback amplifiers whose gain-bandwidth product is fixed. Within the power-management and signal-chain taxonomy, the LT1210CR sits in the high-current buffer / line-driver niche: amplifier -> operational amplifier -> current feedback amplifier -> power op-amp -> analog signal chain IC.
Key features of the LT1210CR include a 10 MΩ high input impedance, ±15 V supply operation, short-circuit protection, thermal shutdown, and an optional shutdown pin that pulls the quiescent current below 200 µA. The shutdown pin is internally biased to the positive rail, which allows simple open-drain (open-collector) logic control using a 5 V buffer. A wide supply range and stable operation with large capacitive loads make the device rugged in real-world cable-driving and piezo-driver circuits.
Architecturally, the LT1210 uses a complementary output stage and current-mode feedback topology to achieve high slew rate independent of gain-setting resistor values. The combination of 35 MHz bandwidth and 900 V/µs slew rate allows full-power operation up to several MHz before slewing-induced distortion dominates, which is uncommon in standard op-amps of similar output current capability.
Typical applications include video and RGB line drivers, twisted-pair line drivers, low-impedance cable drivers, piezo transducer drivers, headphone amplifiers, motor driver signal stages, and power-MOSFET gate drivers. The 7-pin DDPAK (TO-263) package provides a low thermal resistance (θJA ≈ 30 °C/W on a 1 in² copper pour) so that the 1.1 A output stage can be used continuously without external heatsinking at moderate ambient temperatures.
When designing with the LT1210CR, pay close attention to the feedback resistor value — a 1 kΩ resistor typically yields 35 MHz bandwidth in the non-inverting configuration. Place supply bypass capacitors (≥ 0.1 µF ceramic in parallel with ≥ 4.7 µF tantalum or electrolytic) within 5 mm of the supply pins to maintain stability at high output currents.
This page synthesizes distributor pricing, drop-in alternatives, and practical design notes not found in the manufacturer datasheet alone, helping engineers evaluate the LT1210CR against competing high-current op-amps.

Типичное применение
LT1210CR подходит для 6 применениеs: Video and RGB Line Driver, Twisted-Pair and Coaxial Cable Driver, Piezoelectric Transducer Driver, Headphone Amplifier, Power MOSFET Gate Driver, Motor Drive Signal Stage.
Video and RGB Line Driver
The LT1210CR's 35 MHz small-signal bandwidth and 900 V/µs slew rate make it an excellent video and RGB line driver for studio and broadcast equipment, where it must drive 75 Ω doubly-terminated video coax cables (effective 37.5 Ω load) with low differential gain and phase distortion. Its 1.1 A minimum output drive comfortably delivers the 2x sync-tip current of composite video signals at high pixel rates without slew-rate limiting. A typical circuit places the LT1210CR in a gain-of-2 configuration (1 kΩ feedback resistor) with 75 Ω back-termination at the output, achieving -3 dB bandwidth above 30 MHz and differential gain better than 0.1 %. Compared with a voltage-feedback video amplifier, the LT1210CR's current-feedback topology holds bandwidth essentially constant across gain settings, simplifying multi-format video designs.

Twisted-Pair and Coaxial Cable Driver
For long-distance twisted-pair or coaxial cable links in industrial, audio, or instrumentation systems, the LT1210CR provides the 1.1 A output current needed to drive the low characteristic impedance (50 Ω, 75 Ω, or 100 Ω) of the cable while maintaining signal integrity at frequencies in the 1-2 MHz range. Its current-feedback architecture keeps the closed-loop bandwidth near 35 MHz independent of gain, so the same part can serve in a gain-of-1 buffer, a gain-of-2 driver, or a gain-of-5 pre-emphasis stage. The shutdown pin (open-drain logic compatible) lets the system put unused drivers into a < 200 µA sleep state. Short-circuit and thermal protection mean a mis-wired or shorted cable at the far end will not destroy the part.

Piezoelectric Transducer Driver
Piezoelectric transducers in ultrasonic cleaners, medical imaging, and inkjet print-heads require high-voltage, high-slew-rate drive signals at frequencies from 100 kHz to several MHz. The LT1210CR's 900 V/µs slew rate allows it to drive piezo loads with low-distortion waveforms at 1-2 MHz, while the 1.1 A output current provides the capacitive charging/discharging current demanded by the piezo element. When operated from ±15 V supplies, the LT1210CR delivers up to 28 Vpp into the piezo load, sufficient for many industrial ultrasound applications. The DDPAK-7 package and its copper tab thermal path enable continuous operation at high ambient temperatures without external heatsinking.

Headphone Amplifier
In premium headphone and line-driving audio applications, the LT1210CR's 35 MHz bandwidth (far above the 20 kHz audio band) and 900 V/µs slew rate yield exceptionally low total harmonic distortion (typically < 0.02 % at 1 kHz into 32 Ω loads). The 1.1 A output drive allows the part to swing 8 Vrms into 32 Ω headphones without current limiting, and the ±15 V supply headroom supports high-SPL listening levels. Because the LT1210CR is a current-feedback amplifier, the closed-loop bandwidth is set by the feedback resistor (typically 1 kΩ for 35 MHz), letting the designer trade bandwidth for distortion by adjusting the feedback network without changing the basic topology.

Power MOSFET Gate Driver
Driving high-power MOSFETs in switch-mode power supplies, Class-D audio amplifiers, or motor-control bridges requires high peak gate current to charge and discharge the MOSFET gate capacitance (often several nC) quickly. The LT1210CR's 1.1 A output current and 900 V/µs slew rate let it drive a 10 nC gate in under 10 ns, supporting switching frequencies above 1 MHz. The shutdown pin provides a hardware enable/disable that can be tied to a fault signal. Place a small series gate resistor (10-33 Ω) between the LT1210CR output and the MOSFET gate to damp ringing and limit peak current during fast transients.

Motor Drive Signal Stage
As a signal-stage buffer ahead of an H-bridge or three-phase inverter, the LT1210CR provides the high slew rate and current needed to generate clean PWM command signals for servo or stepper motor drives. Its 35 MHz bandwidth preserves the sharp edges of the PWM waveform (typically 25-100 kHz fundamental, 1 MHz edge components) without the rounding introduced by slower op-amps. Short-circuit and thermal protection make the LT1210CR rugged against accidental shorts in the wiring harness to the power stage. Operate from ±15 V supplies for best linearity; place a current-limiting resistor (5-10 Ω) in series with the output to protect against capacitive loads.

Заметки по проектированию
Place supply bypass capacitors within 5 mm of the V+ and V- pins: a 0.1 µF X7R ceramic in parallel with a 4.7 µF (or larger) tantalum or low-ESR electrolytic. The DDPAK tab is internally tied to V-, so the copper pour beneath the part acts as both electrical return and thermal dissipation. Use at least 1 in² of 2 oz copper on the tab side to keep θJA near 30 °C/W. Route the feedback resistor (typically 1 kΩ) as close to the -IN pin as possible to minimize parasitic capacitance, which would otherwise cause peaking or oscillation at high frequencies.
The LT1210CR is rated for 1.1 A continuous output current, but the actual sustainable current is limited by package dissipation. At maximum supply of ±15 V and worst-case output of 0 V, the part dissipates up to 33 W in the output stage. With a 1 in² copper pour (θJA ≈ 30 °C/W), junction temperature rise above ambient is roughly 33 W × 30 °C/W ≈ 990 °C - this is clearly not possible, so the part must operate well below the supply-rail extremes. In practice, with a ±5 V supply into a 50 Ω load, dissipation stays in the 1-2 W range and no heatsink is required. For sustained high output, use the through-hole LT1210CT7 with a clip-on heatsink.
Do not leave the SHDN pin floating - the datasheet states it is internally biased to V+ through a bias circuit, but external leakage or noise can cause unpredictable behavior. Drive SHDN with a clean open-drain/collector signal referenced to V-; for normal operation, leave SHDN open or pull it above the SHDN high threshold (~ 1 V above V-). Also note that pin 7 is marked NC in the datasheet - it is not bonded internally and should not be used as a tie point. Always use a 1 kΩ feedback resistor as the starting point; reducing RF below 500 Ω can cause instability, while raising RF above 5 kΩ will reduce bandwidth and increase distortion.
