The Texas Instruments TXB0104QRUTRQ1 is an automotive-qualified 4-bit bidirectional voltage-level translator with automatic direction sensing, delivered in a compact 12-pin UQFN (RUT) package measuring 1.7 mm x 2.0 mm. It translates between a 1.2 V to 3.6 V A-port supply and a 1.65 V to 5.5 V B-port supply (VCCA <= VCCB), supporting data rates up to 100 Mbps. A voltage-level translator is a logic device that interfaces digital circuits operating at different supply voltages on the same PCB, such as a 1.8 V microcontroller talking to a 3.3 V or 5 V peripheral. translators sit within the broader logic IC hierarchy as members of the voltage-translation and signal-conditioning family used in mixed-voltage embedded systems. Key features include AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualification (-40C to +125C ambient), +/-15kV IEC ESD protection on the I/O pins, and automatic direction sensing that eliminates direction-control pins or firmware overhead. The TXB family push-pull architecture uses internal one-shot edge accelerators, giving rise and fall symmetry suited to push-pull CMOS outputs. The 12-UQFN package enables very dense layouts in space-constrained automotive modules. Typical applications include automotive body electronics and lighting, infotainment and cluster SPI/I2C-adjacent push-pull signaling, sensor interface level shifting, and general-purpose MCU-to-peripheral level translation between 1.8 V, 2.5 V, 3.3 V, and 5 V domains. The wide 1.2 V low-side support makes it suitable for next-generation low-voltage processors. Design note: this device is intended for push-pull CMOS signals; for open-drain buses such as I2C, choose the TXS family instead. Do not add external pull-up or pull-down resistors on TXB I/O lines, as they can defeat the automatic direction sensing.
