LPC845M301JHI33 Présentation
A microcontroller (MCU) is a single-chip computer that contains a processor core, program storage (flash), volatile memory (SRAM), and integrated peripherals for digital and analog I/O. The LPC845 belongs to the Cortex-M0+ family, the most energy-efficient Arm core for 8/16-bit replacement designs, sitting within the broader taxonomy: microcontroller -> embedded processor -> semiconductor IC. Its 30 MHz core delivers 0.9 DMIPS/MHz while consuming a fraction of the power of Cortex-M3/M4 parts, making it ideal for battery-powered and cost-sensitive designs.
Key features of the LPC845M301JHI33 include 64 KB on-chip flash with 64-bit encryption support, 16 KB SRAM, an internal FRO trimmed to 30 MHz, an external crystal oscillator option, a 12-bit ADC with up to 12 input channels, a 10-bit DAC, two analog comparators, an integrated temperature sensor, and an SWD debug interface. The HVQFN-32 (5x5 mm) package provides a low-profile surface-mount footprint suitable for compact PCB designs, with the exposed thermal pad enabling improved heat dissipation for industrial temperature operation from -40 C to +105 C.
Typical applications for the LPC845M301JHI33 include capacitive touch user interfaces, sensor hub data acquisition, low-cost consumer electronics with graphical or LED feedback, industrial control nodes, building automation peripherals, and battery-powered IoT end devices. The combination of CAPT, multiple serial interfaces, and analog peripherals allows designers to build complete signal-chain products with a single IC plus a few passives.
When designing with the LPC845, ensure the SWD pins are brought out to a debug header for development and that the decoupling network (100 nF + bulk cap per VDD pair) is placed within a few millimetres of the pins. The internal FRO is trimmed at production, but for protocols requiring tight baud-rate accuracy (CAN, LIN, USB) the external crystal oscillator should be enabled.

Applications typiques
LPC845M301JHI33 convient pour 6 applications: Capacitive Touch User Interface, Industrial Sensor Hub Node, Battery-Powered IoT Endpoint, Building Automation Peripheral, Low-Cost Consumer Electronics, Automotive Body Electronics.
Capacitive Touch User Interface
The LPC845's integrated Capacitive Touch (CAPT) interface supports up to 9 electrodes directly from the IC, eliminating an external touch controller. NXP's royalty-free CAPT library provides proven firmware for slider, button, and proximity sensing. The 30 MHz Cortex-M0+ core handles up to 9 electrodes at 100 Hz refresh with <5 mW system power.
Recommandé
Industrial Sensor Hub Node
The 12-bit ADC with 12 channels, two analog comparators, and 10-bit DAC make the LPC845 well-suited to multi-sensor data acquisition in factory automation. The four I2C ports allow simultaneous connection of temperature, humidity, pressure, and gas sensors. 64 KB flash holds protocol stacks for IO-Link, Modbus, or CAN while 16 KB SRAM buffers burst sensor data.
Recommandé
Battery-Powered IoT Endpoint
At <1 mA active and <1 uA deep-sleep current on the Cortex-M0+, the LPC845 extends battery life in wireless sensor end nodes and wearables. The internal FRO eliminates an external crystal for cost-sensitive products, and the SWD self-wake-up timer handles periodic sampling. 64 KB flash supports lightweight LoRaWAN or BLE-Mesh stacks alongside application code.
Recommandé
Building Automation Peripheral
The LPC845's mix of serial interfaces, CAPT, and analog peripherals suits smart-building peripherals such as wall switches, dimmers, HVAC zone controllers, and occupancy sensors. Up to five USARTs can drive RS-485, IR, or DMX links concurrently. Industrial temperature range -40 C to +105 C supports outdoor and plenum-space installations.
Recommandé
Low-Cost Consumer Electronics
For appliances, toys, and small appliances the LPC845 offers USB device, CAPT touch buttons, LED PWM via SCTimer, and audio DAC support in a single 5x5 mm package. The 30 MHz core and 16 KB SRAM are sufficient for simple menu UIs and motor-control loops. Integrated 10-bit DAC removes a separate audio DAC for tone generation.
Recommandé
Automotive Body Electronics
The LPC845M301JHI33Y (AEC-Q100) variant targets automotive body applications such as interior lighting, HVAC control, seat-control, and door modules. CAPT enables touch-button replacements for mechanical switches, while LIN bus support via USART simplifies body networking. The automotive-grade qualification streamlines PPAP and OEM approval.

Notes de conception
Place a 100 nF X7R ceramic decoupling capacitor within 2 mm of each VDD pin and a bulk 4.7 uF tantalum or ceramic capacitor at the board supply entry point. The HVQFN-32 exposed thermal pad (EP) MUST be soldered to a 3x3 mm copper pour on the top layer with at least four thermal vias to the inner ground plane for stable thermal performance. For best EMC, surround the crystal traces with a ground guard ring.
The LPC845 includes an internal 30 MHz FRO that eliminates the need for an external crystal in most applications. Enable the external crystal only when baud-rate accuracy better than +/- 2% is required (e.g. CAN, LIN, USB). Use the low-power deep-sleep mode (<1 uA) for IoT battery designs; use the Power profiles in the LPC84x SDK to manage transitions correctly. Wake-up via any GPIO edge through the PININT block.
Do not leave the SWD pins (PIO0_0/PIO0_1) floating in production - either pull them to defined states or remap them via the IOCON block. The CAPT touch library requires the I2C pull-ups to be enabled in firmware even when the I2C bus is unused. The 10-bit DAC output must be buffered if driving loads below 10 kohm - the LPC845's DAC cannot drive low-impedance loads directly.
Informations de conformité
RoHS compliant per NXP product page. The standard LPC845M301JHI33 is NOT AEC-Q100 qualified - choose the LPC845M301JHI33Y suffix variant for AEC-Q100 automotive applications.
