INA4180AIPWR - 26V Quad Current-Sense Amplifier 350kHz | TI
MPN: INA4180AIPWR ✓ نشطINA4180AIPWR نظرة عامة
A current-sense amplifier is an analog IC that amplifies the small differential voltage across a sense resistor and translates it to a ground-referenced output. In the power-management hierarchy it sits between the power path and the monitoring stage, providing feedback for overcurrent protection, closed-loop current control, and load telemetry. The INA4180 integrates four such amplifiers in one IC, cutting BOM cost and board area versus single-channel INA180 or dual-channel INA2180 devices.
Key features include a 350 kHz bandwidth, a common-mode range of -0.2 V to +26 V, and four rail-to-rail output channels that drive ADCs, comparators, or microcontrollers directly. Gain options of 20, 50, 100, and 200 V/V are available across the family (suffix A1-A4), set by internal matched resistor networks with low gain error and good temperature stability. AEC-Q100 qualified Q1 variants such as INA4180A2QPWRQ1 serve automotive designs.
Because the common-mode range is independent of the supply, the amplifier can monitor high-side shunts on a 24 V rail while operating from a 3.3 V or 5 V supply, eliminating level-shifting circuitry. The architecture uses a precision differential front end with internal gain-setting resistors, so no external precision resistors are required.
Typical applications include industrial motor control, DC-DC converter output current monitoring, battery charging systems, telecom board power monitoring, LED lighting load sensing, and automotive load detection.
Design tip: use precision Kelvin connections to the shunt, place input filter resistors close to the IC, and never exceed the 26 V common-mode limit without transient protection. As of 2026-08-30, pricing data should be confirmed with distributors.

التطبيقات النموذجية
INA4180AIPWR مناسب لـ 6 التطبيقs: Industrial Motor Control, DC-DC Converter Output Monitoring, Battery Charging Systems, Telecom Board Power Monitoring, LED Lighting Load Sensing, Automotive Load Detection.
Industrial Motor Control
The INA4180AIPWR monitors phase and bus currents in industrial motor drives, where its 350 kHz bandwidth captures fast current transients and its -0.2 V to +26 V common-mode range covers 24 V bus rails independent of the controller supply. Each of the four channels can watch a different motor or rail, replacing four single-channel INA180 devices. Outputs drive the ADC inputs of MCUs such as the TMS320F28004x C2000 series for closed-loop torque control and overcurrent protection, with rail-to-rail outputs maximizing usable ADC range at 3.3 V.

DC-DC Converter Output Monitoring
In point-of-load and telecom DC-DC converters, the INA4180AIPWR senses output shunt current for load telemetry and overcurrent flagging. Its common-mode range independent of supply lets one 3.3 V-supplied IC monitor multiple 5 V, 12 V, and 24 V output rails simultaneously via the four channels. The 350 kHz bandwidth is sufficient for average current loops and fault detection in converters like the TPS548B28, while internal matched gain resistors preserve accuracy without external precision parts, reducing BOM cost in cost-optimized power designs.
موصى به
Battery Charging Systems
Battery chargers benefit from the INA4180AIPWR's ability to monitor charge current, discharge current, and pack voltage-derived loads across four channels with one device. The -0.2 V common-mode floor supports sensing near ground during deep-discharge conditions, while 26 V covers 12 V and 24 V battery stacks. Rail-to-rail outputs feed charger controller ADCs for coulomb counting and termination decisions. Gain variants (20-200 V/V) let designers optimize shunt power dissipation versus signal amplitude for low-power battery telemetry in charging systems using parts like the BQ24610.
موصى به
Telecom Board Power Monitoring
Telecom line cards and baseband boards run on -48 V-derived or 24 V intermediate buses; the INA4180AIPWR provides per-rail current telemetry for power budgeting and hot-swap supervision. One quad device monitors four supply rails, cutting board area versus four single-channel monitors. Its ground-referenced rail-to-rail outputs interface directly with system-monitor MCUs or the INA226-class digital monitors for aggregation. The 350 kHz bandwidth enables detection of short-circuit current spikes faster than software polling, protecting expensive telecom silicon from sustained overloads.
موصى به
LED Lighting Load Sensing
In high-brightness and smart LED drivers, the INA4180AIPWR senses LED string current for closed-loop regulation and fault detection (open/short string). Four channels allow multi-string luminaires to be monitored by a single IC. The 350 kHz bandwidth supports fast overcurrent response complementary to drivers like the LM3444 or TPS92691, while the 26 V common-mode rating covers typical LED supply rails. Rail-to-rail output near ground supports accurate dimming-level feedback into PWM controllers operating from 3.3 V or 5 V logic supplies.
موصى به
Automotive Load Detection
AEC-Q100 qualified INA4180-Q1 variants bring the same quad-channel 26 V architecture into automotive 12 V battery-rail load detection: body control modules, zone controllers, and e-fuse supervision. The common-mode range independent of supply handles load-dump-adjacent transients within the 26 V rating when paired with upstream protection. Each channel monitors a different actuator or rail (lamps, pumps, fans), providing ground-referenced outputs to safety MCUs such as AM2634-Q1. Using one quad device instead of four singles reduces component count in high-channel-count automotive body electronics.

ملاحظات التصميم
Use Kelvin connections at the shunt: route IN+ and IN- traces directly to the shunt resistor pads, not to shared current-carrying copper. Even milliohms of trace resistance creates gain error. Keep the input RC filter (if used) resistors small and placed close to the IC pins. This follows the typical application layout guidance in the TI INAx180 datasheet Rev. H.
Never exceed the 26 V common-mode limit. Automotive 12 V rails can see load-dump transients above this; add series resistance and clamping upstream. Also remember the common-mode range is independent of supply, but the output cannot exceed VS - verify shunt value and gain (20-200 V/V) so full-scale load current maps within the ADC input range without rail clipping.
The 350 kHz bandwidth passes fast switching edges from nearby MOSFETs. Ground the amplifier close to the shunt low-side node and add a small filter capacitor at the output if the ADC sampling introduces aliasing. For PWM-rejection-critical motor phase sensing, consider INA240 instead, which offers enhanced PWM common-mode rejection.
