Design Notes
Place the UCC21550 as close as possible to the power transistors to minimize gate loop inductance. Use wide, short traces for the gate drive outputs (OUTA, OUTB) and ensure a solid ground plane for the input side. Maintain proper creepage and clearance distances between the input and output sides to preserve the 5000Vrms isolation rating.
Ensure adequate decoupling on the VCCI and VDDA/VDDB supplies. Use 0.1uF ceramic capacitors placed close to the pins, and a larger bulk capacitor (e.g., 10uF) on the output supplies to handle the peak currents during switching. The UVLO thresholds should be considered to ensure the driver operates within the specified supply range.
