- Lower standby power than TNY280GN (vs TNY280GN)
Design Notes
For optimal thermal performance, ensure a large copper area on the PCB connected to the SOURCE pins (pins 2, 3, 4). This helps dissipate heat from the internal MOSFET. Use multiple vias to connect the top and bottom layers for better heat spreading. Refer to the TinySwitch-III datasheet for recommended PCB layout guidelines.
The BP/M pin (pin 1) is used for bypassing the internal supply and also for selecting the current limit. Connect a 0.1 Β΅F capacitor between BP/M and SOURCE. Do not leave this pin unconnected. The current limit selection is done by the value of this capacitor; refer to the datasheet for the correct value for your application.
The TNY277GN features frequency jittering to reduce EMI. To further minimize EMI, place a small ferrite bead on the drain connection and ensure the transformer is properly shielded. Follow the layout recommendations in the datasheet to keep the high-voltage traces short and away from sensitive control circuitry.
Compliance Information
RoHS compliant per Power Integrations. Not AEC-Q100 qualified as it is not an automotive-grade part.
