Design Notes
Ensure the VDD supply is adequately decoupled with a 0.1uF ceramic capacitor placed close to the VDD and GND pins. The bootstrap capacitor for the high-side driver should be sized to provide sufficient gate charge for the high-side MOSFET. A typical value is 100nF to 1uF, depending on the gate charge and switching frequency. Use a fast recovery diode for the bootstrap supply to minimize charging time.
Place the gate driver as close as possible to the power MOSFETs to minimize parasitic inductance in the gate drive loop. Use wide, short traces for the HO and LO outputs. Keep the high-side and low-side ground paths separate to avoid noise coupling. Refer to the TI application note for recommended layout guidelines.
Do not exceed the absolute maximum ratings for VDD and VB. Ensure the input signals are within the recommended operating range. The driver holds outputs low when inputs are floating, but it is good practice to pull unused inputs to a defined logic level. Also, verify the dead-time settings in your controller to prevent shoot-through.
