Typical Applications
BSP762TXUMA1 is suitable for 6 applications: Automotive 12V LED Lighting Driver, Automotive Solenoid and Relay Replacement, Small DC Motor Driver, Industrial PLC Digital Output Module, Resistive Heating Load Control, Capacitive Load Switching (USB VBUS, Camera Modules).
Automotive 12V LED Lighting Driver
The BSP762TXUMA1 drives 12V automotive LED strings for daytime running lights, interior ambient lighting, and tail-light assemblies. Its 2 A continuous current supports multiple LED chains in parallel, while the 4.17 uVrms-equivalent low switching noise avoids EMI issues with adjacent radio modules. The integrated reverse-battery and load-dump protection eliminates external TVS diodes, reducing BOM cost and PCB area compared to discrete MOSFET + relay designs.
Recommended
Automotive Solenoid and Relay Replacement
As a solid-state replacement for mechanical relays driving 12V solenoids (door locks, trunk latches, valve actuators), the BSP762TXUMA1 eliminates contact bounce and arcing wear, extending service life beyond 100 million switching cycles. The integrated short-circuit and over-temperature protection automatically limits fault current if the solenoid winding shorts, preventing harness fire risk. Compared to a relay, the BSP762TXUMA1 provides PWM capability for soft-start or proportional control of hydraulic valves.
Recommended
Small DC Motor Driver
The BSP762TXUMA1 drives small brushed DC motors up to 2 A continuous in applications such as HVAC blend doors, mirror adjusters, and seat headrest actuators. Its fast switching enables PWM speed control at frequencies up to 1 kHz, while internal over-temperature shutdown protects the IC during motor stall conditions that briefly draw many times the steady-state current. The diagnostic feedback pin signals stall events to the host MCU for fault logging and adaptive control.
Recommended
Industrial PLC Digital Output Module
In 24V industrial PLC output modules, the BSP762TXUMA1 provides per-channel high-side switching with comprehensive fault diagnostics. Its 150 C junction temperature rating supports the elevated ambient temperatures inside enclosed control cabinets, while the integrated short-circuit protection handles inductive load transients without external current-sense resistors. The open-drain status pin simplifies per-channel fault reporting back to the PLC backplane controller via opto-isolated feedback.
Recommended
Resistive Heating Load Control
The BSP762TXUMA1 controls resistive heating elements such as seat heaters, mirror defrosters, and small PTC auxiliary heaters. Its 2 A capability handles up to 24 W at 12V, and the integrated over-temperature protection limits fault conditions if the heater shorts to ground. PWM operation at low duty cycles provides proportional temperature control with smoother thermal response than bang-bang thermostats.
Recommended
Capacitive Load Switching (USB VBUS, Camera Modules)
When switching highly capacitive loads such as USB VBUS rails or rear-view camera modules, the BSP762TXUMA1 limits inrush current via its controlled rise time, preventing connector damage and voltage droop on the upstream supply. Compared to a bare MOSFET, the BSP762TXUMA1 saves design time by integrating the gate drive charge pump, status feedback, and short-circuit protection. The reverse-battery block prevents back-feeding into the harness if the camera is miswired.

Design Notes
Estimated: At 2 A load with Rds(on) of 100 mOhm, the BSP762TXUMA1 dissipates approximately 0.4 W (I^2 x Rds(on)). The PG-DSO-8-6 package thermal resistance is approximately 50 C/W on a 1 cm squared 1 oz copper pour, giving a junction temperature rise of about 20 C above ambient. For continuous 2 A operation at 85 C ambient, ensure at least 2 cm squared of copper area on top and bottom layers with thermal vias. Without the thermal pad soldered to a copper pour, the thermal resistance rises sharply and the part will enter thermal shutdown at much lower currents.
Place a 100 nF ceramic bypass capacitor (X7R or X5R, 50V rating) directly between the VBB pin and the GND pin, with traces shorter than 5 mm. The OUT pin traces should be sized for the load current: 1 oz copper of 1 mm width handles approximately 1 A without significant heating; for 2 A continuous, use 2 mm or wider traces on top layer or 2 oz copper. The exposed thermal pad must be soldered to the PCB ground plane with at least 5 thermal vias (0.3 mm drill, 1 oz plating) to achieve the rated thermal performance.
Do not leave the input pin floating in noisy automotive environments: although the BSP762TXUMA1 has an internal pull-down, EMI from adjacent harness wiring can capacitively couple into the high-impedance input and cause spurious turn-on events. Drive the input explicitly with a push-pull GPIO or totem-pole buffer. The status pin is open-drain and requires an external pull-up resistor (typically 10 kOhm to Vlogic); do not connect it directly to a voltage source. Verify the load inductance does not exceed the datasheet clamping energy limits; for highly inductive loads, add an external TVS diode.
Route the GND pin directly to the ground plane with a via as close to the pin as possible. Keep the high-current OUT traces away from the low-level ST (status) and IN traces to avoid capacitive coupling of load switching transients into the logic interface. For multi-layer PCBs, dedicate one internal layer to a continuous ground plane under the BSP762TXUMA1 to provide both heatsinking and a low-impedance return path. Place the load and the supply bypass capacitors on the same side of the board as the IC to minimize parasitic inductance.
