- Higher output power than UCC33020 (vs UCC33020QWRHBRQ1)
Design Notes
For optimal isolation performance, maintain the recommended clearance and creepage distances (>4.1mm) on the PCB. Place input and output capacitors close to the respective pins to minimize parasitic inductance and ensure stable operation. Use a solid ground plane on both sides of the isolation barrier, but avoid bridging the barrier with copper traces.
The UCC33420 dissipates power internally, so ensure adequate thermal management. The VSON package has an exposed pad that should be soldered to a thermal via array connected to a copper pour for heat spreading. For 1.5W output, the power dissipation is moderate, but in high ambient temperatures, derating may be necessary.
Do not exceed the input voltage range of 5.5V, as this can damage the device. Ensure the output voltage selection pin (VOSEL) is correctly configured for the desired output (5.0V or 5.5V). The enable pin (EN/FLT) has a maximum input current of 10uA; do not exceed this to avoid false fault reporting.
Compliance Information
RoHS compliant per TI product page. AEC-Q100 qualification applies to the Q1 variant.
