Typical Applications
BTT60101ERBXUMA1 is suitable for 6 applications: Automotive 24V Lamp Driver, 12V Automotive High-Power Relay Replacement, Industrial 24V PLC Digital Output, 24V/48V Commercial Vehicle Load Switch, Battery Management Protection Switch, Fuse Emulation in Retrofit 24V Systems.
Automotive 24V Lamp Driver
The BTT60101ERBXUMA1 is purpose-built for 24V truck and bus lamp loads up to 5×P21W. Its 10 mΩ RDS(on) keeps conduction loss under 1 W at 9 A, reducing thermal stress inside the headlamp housing. Per the Infineon BTT6010-1ERB datasheet, the part supports 24V nominal and tolerates 36V load-dump transients. Integrated reverse-battery protection down to -36V eliminates an external protection diode. The ST (status) and IS (current-sense) pins feed back to the BCM for open-filament and short-circuit diagnostics, which are mandatory in modern automotive lighting ECUs.
Recommended
12V Automotive High-Power Relay Replacement
In 12V body and chassis applications, the BTT60101ERBXUMA1 directly replaces electromechanical relays driving seat heaters, mirror heaters, and rear-window defrosters up to 9 A continuous. The 10 mΩ RDS(on) dissipates roughly 0.81 W at full load, an order of magnitude below an equivalent relay's coil power. Solid-state switching removes contact arcing and audible click noise. The current-sense output (IS) enables predictive maintenance by detecting gradual load resistance changes, while the status pin (ST) flags overtemperature and short-circuit events to the host MCU.
Recommended
Industrial 24V PLC Digital Output
The BTT60101ERBXUMA1 fits industrial 24V PLC digital output modules that drive solenoid valves, indicator lamps, and small contactors. Its 5 V to 36 V supply range exceeds the IEC 61131-2 nominal 24 V rail and tolerates supply transients common on factory floors. The 9 A continuous rating gives generous headroom for inductive kickback from coils, and the internal Smart6 protection handles the dissipation. The IS current-sense output enables open-wire and partial-short detection, while the ST status pin reports faults back to the PLC backplane for remote diagnostics.
Recommended
24V/48V Commercial Vehicle Load Switch
Trucks, buses, agricultural machinery, and construction equipment using 24V or 48V architectures use the BTT60101ERBXUMA1 to switch lighting, wiper motors, and HVAC blower loads. The 36V absolute maximum and -36V reverse-battery tolerance match the harsher transient environment of commercial vehicles per ISO 7637-2. The exposed pad of the PG-TDSO-14-11 package spreads heat into the chassis copper, sustaining 9 A without active cooling. Field-replaceable ECU modules benefit from the status feedback that pinpoints blown bulbs or wiring faults without manual probing.
Recommended
Battery Management Protection Switch
The BTT60101ERBXUMA1 serves as a solid-state protection switch between a 12V/24V battery and downstream electronics in e-bike, e-scooter, and portable backup battery packs. Its 10 mΩ RDS(on) minimizes quiescent loss, while the integrated thermal shutdown protects against external short circuits that would otherwise weld a mechanical fuse. Reverse-battery protection down to -36V guards against installer error. The current-sense output (IS) enables coulomb-counting accuracy improvements when paired with a battery monitor IC, supporting more precise state-of-charge estimation.
Recommended
Fuse Emulation in Retrofit 24V Systems
Retrofit kits that replace old fuse-and-relay boxes with modern electronic control units increasingly use the BTT60101ERBXUMA1 to emulate the protective behavior of ATO/Mini-blade fuses while adding diagnostic feedback. The 9 A continuous rating maps to a standard 10 A fuse slot, and the part's electronic overcurrent protection is more accurate than thermal fuses. Status and current-sense outputs let the retrofit ECU log fault events with timestamps. The PG-TDSO-14-11 footprint is footprint-compatible with several Infineon siblings, easing last-minute load re-allocation during design.

Design Notes
At 9 A continuous load and 24 V supply, conduction loss is approximately 0.81 W (9² × 0.01 Ω). The PG-TDSO-14-11 exposed pad should be soldered to at least 1 square inch of copper on each inner PCB layer, with thermal vias connecting them, to keep the junction temperature below 150 °C. According to the Infineon BTT6010-1ERB datasheet, theta_JA depends strongly on copper area; refer to the datasheet's thermal-resistance curves rather than assuming a default value. For continuous operation above 7 A in an enclosed housing, derate to 70 °C ambient or add a small aluminum heat sink.
Place the BTT60101ERBXUMA1 close to the load connector to minimize wire resistance between the OUT pin and the actual load, which improves the accuracy of the current-sense (IS) output. Route the VBAT pins (11, 12, 13) with wide copper pours and place a 100 nF ceramic bypass capacitor as close as possible to the VBAT-to-GND pair. The exposed pad must be soldered to a continuous ground pour for both thermal dissipation and electrical reference, with at least 9 thermal vias (0.3 mm drill) underneath.
Do not connect the IN pin to a 5 V logic signal without verifying the datasheet's input-threshold table for your VBAT level. The BTT6010-1ERB datasheet defines IN as a CMOS/TTL-compatible input with pull-down current; floating the IN pin leaves the part in an undefined state. The IS pin output is a current source that requires an external sense resistor to ground; selecting a 1 kΩ resistor gives a typical analog voltage proportional to load current, but recalibrate against the kILIS tolerance in production. Reverse-battery events beyond -36 V can damage the part - add an external TVS for 48 V truck systems.
Keep the ST (status) and IN traces away from the OUT switching node to avoid capacitive coupling that could corrupt diagnostics. Use a star-ground topology with the BTT60101ERBXUMA1's GND pin as the single point for the IS sense resistor and the MCU's ADC reference. The OUT pin carries high di/dt during PWM; gate resistance inside the device limits rise time, but you should still keep the OUT trace short and well-spaced from sensitive analog traces such as microphone or antenna signals.
